Fufeng USA, a subsidiary of eastern China-based Fufeng Group, plans to set up a US$700 million corn wet-milling agribusiness park in Grand Forks City, North Dakota. While the city council approved the deal, residents have raised security concerns over its “China connection” since March 2022.

I love how they r mentioning Pyongyang when they talk about Communist China. On the other hand, I'd raise the same doubt if they r setting up some kind of research facility but... It's a milling plant... I think it would likely be beneficial to the economy in North Dakota with little gain (other than financially) to the CCP. Heck if US doesn't like it, just confiscate the property once it's in place.

Fufeng USA, the American subsidiary of a Chinese company that makes components for animal feed, announced last year that it wanted to build a corn mill in that field, officials in Grand Forks celebrated. The mill, they said, would bring as many as 1,000 construction jobs and more than 200 permanent jobs to the city. Gov. Doug Burgum, a Republican, described it as a “huge opportunity” for all of North Dakota.

Americans have time and time again polled and researched to find that the people of China overwhelmingly support their government due their experience that the government does mostly listen to the needs of the people. Chinese are sometimes very critical of actions of the government, but never its legitimacy (this is an area the government does not allow discussion). I go to America and see so many unhappy and angry people who not only generally dislike their government, but also can not get along with each other very well. I go to China and see positive people who feel they are a part of a country that is striving for a better future. People in China do not have feelings of anger and hatred to their fellow citizens, even those of a different ethnicity (and there are many different ethnicities in China). No country is perfect, but American needs to look at itself and not only the world for the root of their extreme problems. Fear however, is a traditional way to control people and their minds. I see fear, true fear, in the people in this video. I couldn’t laugh at them. I feared for them and for myself.

@@World-of-Fireworks Yea, people gets relocated a lot, not just for highways, for other infrastructures too. Those people are often envied as they get massive compensations... I'm assuming you are being sarcastic about farmers not being able to afford highways, as I was when I say every single voice is discussed before anything can be done. Because a lot of my relatives are from rather poor villages and they have no problem using the highways as they cost 6-7 cents USD per kilometre.

I think another question that should be asked is what will be done with the tax revenue generated by the mill? I think it's a great opportunity for the citizens and the company. A hint to the officials: tell them how the citizens will make money and what the government will do with it and stick to that. It will calm everything down, otherwise, the citizens will have reason to be suspicious of whomever goes there.
