Very nice upgrade. Sump swaps are a pita, looks like you pulled through it and have some nice results. Love the way they packaged the sump as well, IM take notes! Lol
@pelphrey5 жыл бұрын
You got that right, if the plumbing was standard I would have no issues bothering it. But the RedSea plumbing just simply makes me nervous! All in all it went pretty well, just took some time to get it done!

Sweet looking setup. I need a 15gal ato reservoir for my Red Sea so that I can stop using the one that came with the tank. Great video

It is nice having a large ATO container for sure, I used the RedSea ATO for only a short while. When I went to the 10 gallon ATO it was awesome!
@TMogo1165 жыл бұрын
I have the exact same setup with sump and ato, i have to say they did not ship mine in the same manner, i had peanuts in everything it was a bit of a pain to clean when it arrived and I did not have any wood in my boxes. The products are great though.
@pelphrey5 жыл бұрын
I agree the products are top notch, I've never handled an acrylic tank and I was surprised. I thought for sure it was going to weigh more than it did! Sorry to hear about the shipping, maybe that had some issues with previous shipping methods and made them better!

Pretty nice upgrade. I was checking out your Gate Valve. Think I will replace the Red sea gate valve with a true gate valve. I'm constantly having to adjust the Red sea one.
@pelphrey5 жыл бұрын
My redsea valve worked perfect for close to 2 years. Finally it required constant adjustments so it was time to go! The gate valve has been rock solid! Much easier to tune also!
@Reefkpr15 жыл бұрын
@@pelphrey Thanks, Yep I'm right at 2 years. Been fine until recently. I pulled it apart and cleaned and still having to adjust it. Ordering a gate valve now.

Hello mate Now your running a Triton style sump you won't need as much flow going through it. So if you turn the return pump down it will stop a lot of that splashing Noise going to the skimmer chamber. Great job and I love the videos
@pelphrey5 жыл бұрын
You hit the nail on the head! I slowed my COR pump down A LOT and that really helped out! I'll admit I know nothing about triton and don't plan to use it. I was just so used to having a mass amount of flow going through the sump that I left the pump configured the way I had it in my reefer sump!
@Reject065 жыл бұрын
been wanting to buy that sump for my 425xl but they only offer the 350. Its like 3 inches shorter than my stock sump and when i emailed to ask for those few inches back it would turn into a custom sump driving the price to well over 700. nice sump but going the wrong direction for water volume/price for me at this time. cant wait to see how you addressed the weir, usually i'll cut them out as their surface area limits the flow and creates that water fall sound.
@pelphrey5 жыл бұрын
I actually slowed the COR pump down and that helped out greatly, it isn't 100% silent but you have to listen for it now. I am satisfied with the noise level! I can see both sides on the sump situation, I almost would rather have the 350 sump under my tank. Like you though I wouldn't want to give up some water volume.

I haven't... I really need to, I actually made 80 gallons of water this weekend and thought about it. I don't make water often so I don't think about it until I need to run the unit. I also need to get some replacement filters, maybe I'll do that this month! Thanks for the reminder!

Nice setup!! I've been watching your vids and really appreciate you posting the wins and loses. Keep up the good work. Did you/can you still use the filter socks with that sump?
@pelphrey5 жыл бұрын
I wish I had more wins, but it just isn't that way! haha Just learning from my own mistakes! This sump does not have a place for filter socks, I've managed to construct a solution for running mechanical filtration when I want to. It isn't pretty but it does work!

How is the apex auto feeder work in your sump? Are you selling the white ato container?
@pelphrey5 жыл бұрын
The AFS runs twice a day and seems to be working great! I use a coral feeder to blow area's of the tank and sump out pretty often. I've not noticed any food stuck in the return chamber. I am sending the ATO container to a buddy of mine, as soon as I can find a box for it!

Nice sump! I’m not sure how I feel about the sound of the water from the fuge going into the skimmer section though :-/
@pelphrey5 жыл бұрын
Going to address that in a follow up video, long story short I slowed my COR20 return pump down and that pretty much fixed the noise from that section.
@dramad29745 жыл бұрын
You could also put the skimmer on a stand and raise the water level 8n the sump to reduce the water fall effect.

Did you not like the stock sump or did you just want a change?
@pelphrey5 жыл бұрын
Stock sump worked fine for my needs for over 2 years. I’d thought about swapping it out for a long time, it was an easy decision when crystal reef reached out to me. The added water volume is priceless, even if it’s only 6-8 gallons. That’s a significant addition to a system that is only 50-55ish gallons.
