I started with the black bucket, but switched to the blue bucket. It can be mixed for a long time and not loose parameters. Also the lower alkalinity seems to be easier on my pumps.

Really curious as to what the Red Sea "improved formula" consists of. I've used Red Sea CP and Blue Bucket for the last 20 years.

how are they saying how much to dose? This knows nothing about how many corals you have and the uptake you are getting from whats in the tank. This is a terrible thing to follow. You will probably precipitate in no time if you only have a small frags and dosing non stop if they are barely using anything. Also alk and calcium should be dosed in equal parts always. only time you really dose different is to make adjustments to the total levels. after that its equal dosing. Doesnt even mention how to test for what you need to dose. seeing how much alk is used up in 24hr and there is your daily dosing.

I suspect it is based on whether you selected mixed reef or SPS dominant. It’s really just there to give the person an idea on the cost of running their system. Other than that it’s useless. Same goes for trace. Overdosing trace is probably more harmful than not dosing it at all. Also if you dose to a lightly stocked tank that amount of nopox you will grow lots of pink slime and the reef energy will grow lots of algae.
