Red Shouldered Hawks don’t normally catch other birds, but this one was small enough that it was easy to catch. There was no chance in the bird escaping with your window in the way! Nice footage for sure!

Actually my bird feeders are about 50 feet away from my windows near my backyard retraining wall. The wall is where the Hawk sat & had his lunch with that blackbird. They are a nuisance & chase the song birds away arriving in flocks like the starlings. Oh well, one less grackle & a wholesome meal for a most beautiful bird of prey! Cheers! I do have suet blocks hanging near my window so I can watch the various birds including Woodpeckers enjoy a meal. Others that like suet include Blue Jay Brown Thrasher Downy Woodpecker Eastern Bluebird Hairy Woodpecker Red Bellied Woodpecker Society Finch Spotted Dove Tufted Titmouse

Luckily a "Northern Mockingbird" isn't in that list. If there is one, there's no way this hawk would want to nest in an open tree in the neighborhood. The mockingbirds will gang up in pairs and prevent the hawks from building. This is when Red Shouldered Hawks prefer building deep in forests that are maybe a quarter mile from anyone's house.
