Not to bring more pain but the Dodgers can definitely sign more because it is estimated that they made $142M last year in Japan “alone”. That’s like 2 years of Ohtani’s pay without the deferral. Also, Sasaki’s contract comes from International pool money, so that’s a different wallet. Lastly, the Dodgers moneymaking started 10 years ago, when fans saw the sincerity of player signing and trades from day one of the ownership change. Something that the new regime promised and tried. Sellouts every season after because every season saw new signings and trades, trying new things. They have not broken their good faith promise and fans spend their money for it

teams shouldn't be able to defer more than 25% of any deal. they need to put limits on that crap. this LA ownership group will sell the team before they ever pay any of this money.

I agree with a cap but the owners wont sell. Theyll be raking in the money if they win few few more championships. Plus Shohei's contract has a clause if one of the owners leaves.
