My dad used to sing this to me. As far back as I can remember. My name is Joe and whenever I skinned my knee, so to speak, he would sing a bit of it till the tears would stop. Im 62 now and he’s gone but just hearing the words now brings them back. Thanks for sharing. One of the many Little Joe the Wranglers.

I'm from AZ, and I've heard this song sung since I was knee high to a calf. I swear, I still tear up a little toward the end, and I'm 63.

I have this LP. It's almost worn out. Surprisingly I bought it when I lived in London.

I wore out Chris Ladoux's version chasing buckles through the eighties, Red does a great job with any song.

I'll be Goddamned and go to hell. I heard this song since I was knee-high the half-grown calf, and it still makes me want to tear-up!. I swear.
