Red tailed hawks are actually my favorite bird of prey, I love them down to their color of their feathers, their calls, even the way they fly. I see the so often in the summer, and fall, I really enjoy those days. My favorite songbird is more complicated though. It would have to be a Oasis hummingbird. My favorite farm domesticated bird, is a duck. And lastly normal pet birds, my favorite would be a cockatiel. Please share your list in the replies, sorry for the rant, I am passionate about birds.
@Pacificnorthwestkate Жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching 🥰 my favourite raptor is the northern harrier - they have the ultimate flying skills and with their owl shaped facial discs are the most beautiful in my opinion - my fave songbird is the Swainsons thrush - it’s a relatively dull looking bird, hard to spot but it’s song is absolutely beautiful. Farm bird would have to be a pheasant - and pet bird? I’m not a fan of caged birds but when I was little I had a blue budgie called “bluey.” 😄- I am also very passionate about birds! Links to my Instagram FB Twitter etc on my profile page - please subscribe. 🥰
@inkthedrake6854 Жыл бұрын
@@Pacificnorthwestkate (sorry if it seems I am ignoring your favorites, I just dont have much to add to them, other then that they are good choices!) but I agree birds should not be kept in cages (all day), however some people take very good care of their pet bird/s. Only putting them in the cage at night for sleep. And allowing them to fly in either a room, or the house during the day. Of course there’s abuse, but same can be said about all the smaller pets. It does not help that people think of them as “starter” pets. Sorry about the rant.

When I was a kid I once saw a guaraguao (thats how is called in Puerto Rico) hunt a newly born chicken I was stalking. It was crazy I remeber looking at him/her, they where in a branch of a tree, not that high pretty close to the ground but not really close, like eyes level to me. The mohfohkoh was there super quite i think we did even made I contact for a sec, but then he continued what i thought was contemplating nature. Oh man was I wrong. I was still stalking the baby chickens when suddenly a breeze and a brown projectile crossed my eyesight, and I couldn't even react fast enough, when I got out of the shock you could se a dark brown object flying away and you could hear clearly the pio pio sound of the poor chicken being less and less able to be heard with the distance the guaraguao took. The hawk was never just chilling on the branches, he was just waiting the perfect moment to catch its prey, and the eye contact we made was to make sure I wasn't going to interfere with his business. That was wild y'all i will never forget that.
