I’m kind of surprised that they don’t have Yeri start more songs. In Twice, they usually have Nayeon start because her voice is the most recognizable. I’d say in Red Velvet that it’s a pretty even tie between Seulgi’s and Yeri’s voices in that regard. Also, I wonder how this list would look if we ignored intro adlibs. i think it’s because seulgi is a lead vocalist, and lead vocalists usually start the song since they’re the lead. i think the reason why yeri doesn’t start any songs is because she only has sub positions (if i remember correctly) like sub-vocalist and sub-rapper

Seulgi have kind of voice that make her stand out from the rest. Thats why she usually start the song and lead the chorus. It give more Red Velvet feel into it. Not to said the others dont do a great job, but it just Seulgi has that speciality. But in other terms, other members doing better than her like Wendy who hit every high notes, Joy giving a honey feel in the song, Irene and Yeri harmonization in the chorus. Everyone have their own roles in the group. It not just main vocal, lead vocal, sub vocal position only in SM. They more than that. Thats why SM always on the top when it cames to vocal. Everyone not only know what their position are, but also what their position means
