As much as I admire Mr. Pizza-Pasta, I have to say Red Vox's Drummer also has amazing beats. Especially in this song. The over-use of the kick and the floor tom really add to the somber mood.

@@GoldRustt yoo i didnt expect anyone to care lol I never finished it, but the concept was a murder mystery focusing on the relationship between two novelists. they wrote a murder mystery for a newspaper chapter by chapter and someone carried out the exact murder for each chapter before it was published. the story is abt the tension between each character and how suspicious and high alert they become until the reveal of whodunnit. the inspiration this song gave me was a character backstory.
@AmethystKrystal8 жыл бұрын
This sounds like something that would play while the end credits roll honestly :U
@Coey89008 жыл бұрын
The same goes for the next two songs. This sounds like something that'd play before the end credits roll, and then Long Lonely Night is that sad feeling of leaving, much like credits after a good movie or experience. In A Dream is kind of cool because it's like post-credits closure, maybe a peek into what could be in the future for this guy after he gets over his girlfriend's death? That is, if you go with the theory that the whole album is arranged in a way to tell a story. Now listen I'm gonna go on a bit of a huge unrelated tangent here but, hear me out... Like, for example; There She Goes is a dude thinking he's hot shit and picking up women all over. Atom Bomb is him getting anxious about taking too much time being with her and getting ready to drop her when she does something to start shit while We Had a Little Talk is about him talking about that sorta thing with her. Back to School reveals that he's just a teenager going through teen problems, wanting to get out of school but also knowing that this is the last year of it he has, and that while he's excited to leave, he knows it won't last much longer and he should cherish the last of his childhood while it's there. You can see that with Telephone she might've started cheating on him, and The Wrong Side of History is telling her that he's going to keep being himself no matter how mad she gets at him being him. Along the Way is him wishing her luck along the way and eventually Hazy and Job in the City show that he's been aging this whole time throughout it; this relationship lasted a long time because, in Hazy he seems to be having a mid-life crisis, even. Job in the City also hints at the girl becoming a prostitute with the line about selling your skin at the end, and, She Missed the Beat is about her death. Even though she died and broke up with him, he still cares as you can see in Along the Way with how he seems to wish her good sentiment of sorts. Ghost Page is him stalking her social media profile and trying to learn all of the info he can, or maybe doing some fishy creepy shit that everyone sees him doing, hence how the song is incredibly guilt-ridden. This also falls into place with Long Lonely Night and how he's incredibly lonely at this point; however, the end lyrics "Afraid of what you'll say" don't lead up to anything like they normally do throughout the song, and the next bit of words you even get is the title of the song "In A Dream". You can see that he's relying on his dreams to hook him back up with her; reliving his memories and visiting her every night. It's tragic because he starts out so carefree and naive and you're not even sure if he's insane by the end of the album. The end song sounds so upbeat like he's completely brainwashed by the idea of meeting her in his dreams, and the previous aforementioned lyrics from Long Lonely Night seem to say that he's afraid of what she'll say to him in his dreams, maybe. You also can't help but feel that "In A Dream" is the best possible ending for this story, too. He's with her again in his own way and he's clearly happy with it, even though he's probably a little messed up after the whole experience. I can imagine that, before this whole thing, his reason for getting into this relationship was "What Could Go Wrong" and, well, look at what happened to him. It's a pretty heavy album honestly; all of the tracks go into a topic, explaining a separate story but can all be combined together into a huge tale about a rather messed up, tragic, and heavy relationship. There are so many stories about broken hearts and bad relationships in todays music, but this one feels more grown-up and actually hits you with something heavy instead of just sounding very whiny. Sorry for my tangent but I honestly don't really have much of a life so, I legitimately spend lots of time just typing random shit because I don't have anything better to do.

tl;dr A shit theory of how Red Vox is a story or something.
@Coey89008 жыл бұрын
Oatmeal Yeah, thanks for clearing that up, actually. I tend to ramble about shit, but uh, yeah. It's not about how What Could Go Wrong is a story; it's about how I feel as if Vinny arranged the tracks in a certain order to kind of tell a story, (or wrote them with that story in mind) while making the tracks to stand out on their own. I can't help but see things where there are none though, so, yeah, it could totally just be me.

I don't mean to insult you with that, the theory was actually pretty good (I spent a good 10 minutes reading that wall!). I just felt the need to tl;dr it, as I do with most walls.

I think this song is about a guy who loved someone, but she died. And ever since she died the guy would mourn by looking over her old facebook page. I don't know if the song got this dark, but I got the vibe that the guy killed (or is getting ready to kill) himself in hopes of having a chance to be with her forever.

Same, he does say "We'll be together till' the end of time" the fast pacing it takes at 4:00 to 4:14 seems like he's about to kill himself and there's almost what seems to be a holy note at the end from 4:25 to the end and it's like he made it to her and he's able to see her again
@Lunar_Capital3 жыл бұрын
Not only did she die, but it seems like she killed herself as well. The lyrics "Once upon a time I watched you fall, it was written on your wall." Could suggest that she had written her suicide note via her facebook before dying.

Also I gotta say also that this song is beautiful the lyrics the singing even the background music it’s all masterfully done.

No, I think theres a difference. Joel makes music because...He loves Music. He can make goofy music and serious music and has all the same fun. Just think of all the streams where he assembles some random ass songs that still end up being bangers. Joel could literally sing about shit and love it. Vinny has done silly songs too but I think that was only because he was experimenting. The last two albums is what he really does. Just...Mindboggling lyrics and heavy music. I remember him mentioning that he uses Red Vox to just vent and sing about shit on his mind. All sorts of Concepts and ideas.

Lyrical notes aside, the song is good. (not that the lyrics are bad, but I'm just leaving them out of consideration) The only real issue I see with this song is that the "chorus" sounds like a lead up to a chorus, and when it just ends and continues with the bridge, you feel like you missed something.
