Here's something I posted elsewhere: "Glad you like it! As I said last night, this song kind of caps off an era/sound of Red Vox for now. It's the culmination of everything we learned from Another Light and is directly related to that album. Going forward we're going to be trying new things, both stripped down and more synth heavy. It's just kind of the natural course for me and the other guys to want to evolve and try different stuff. I'm glad everyone enjoyed this, but don't expect a Wish You Were Here or Animals from us in the near future. :)"

The only reason vinny gets so much credit is because he uploaded most of the other albums to his main channel, also he plugs red vox on his streams occasionally, not to mention he is (to my knowledge) the most famous member, the only 2 i know more about than just a name is him and mike, but to my knowledge the other 2 members are relatively private.

yeah this is the best red vox song. the long, lingering verses, a single voice reaching out for long-gone connection... the slow breakdown of the speaker as they realize these are their last words, that they cant waste any more oxygen... the unexpected and almost sacred addition of the organ in the guitar solo before it slips into 6/8 time!!!! that instrumental section specifically was what canonized this for me as absolutely legendary. you really just have to lie down in absolute darkness and allow it to overtake you. fucking phenomenal so many years later
@SleepyAdam

I always like to imagine the solo at the end is the spaceman doing something drastic, perhaps finally taking his opportunity to fly by exiting his spaceship and perhaps plummeting towards the star below, right before his ship finally receives a response message. It's tragic yet he took his life into his own hands when he felt it was over.

I get a vibe that this is a mixture of space and communicating to god. I couldn't hold back from commenting I just heard vinny's lyrics and they sound mournful, " I believe it when I die" saying "I can't hear you, I can't see you." It reminds me how faith is a concept that is not easily learnable if never opened up to. I believe in god, however I understand those that try or do not. either way I hope this value of an outlook.

And "caps off an era/sound of Red Vox for now" and just, Wow... There's so much talent and love and production in this song. It takes a REALLY well put together feel for a 9 minute song to feel like no time has passed while you listen to it. This song gives you that feeling. So much of this song speaks to me, and unfortunately relates to much of the going ons in my life in recent days. Friends and family members are dying. I have regrets and doubts about my choices, doubts about the nature of the universe. Self hatred for wrongdoings and lack of closure or amends. Hearing vin sing about it, means so much more than it would if some mainstream band had sang it. Vinny is Vinny. He's the friend I never had. Thank you Red Vox.

DavePyroRet For me, it’s a very unique blend of melancholy that characterizes Red Vox’s music. The tone in so much of his music to me captures the feeling of depression better than most art has, to put it in a weird way. Convaying feelings of loneliness and lyrics that speak on problems that feel almost insurmountable, with an underlining tone that’s less tragic and more empty. That might just be me, but that was what I grasped out of ol’ Vinny’s music, between listening to Room to Breathe, Ether Reality and Another Light and it’s what drew me in.

something i find really beautiful about the song is the mirroring of the intro and the outro. In the intro, vinny's character sends out a distress signal, desperately hoping someone receives it and comes to his aid. As the song goes on, he murmurs to himself, listing all of his past regrets. As his characters' consciousness fades, we switch to the perspective of the "Captain of the Pike", who's radar is pinging the stranded man's location. We switch back to the stranded man and hear a return to his distress call, asking if he's still alive.

I really adore Stranded and From The Stars, they hit REALLY hard, as, well nearly all of RV’s songs do. the way I see it, From The Stars is from the perspective of the loved ones for the person who’s Stranded, yelling and screaming at the person to stay, trying to show that they are here for them. Stranded starts off as the person is about to go away, ignoring the calls and signals being sent to them, but during the solo part is where they (figuratively?) fight back to stay here at least just a bit longer. it’s not their time to go yet, thus returning the signals and hoping they’re being received right back. pretty sure this is worded weirdly, I apologize, but man. Red Vox don’t ever stop what y’all are doing, these songs fucking hit hard and really do mean a whole to people like me. love ya RV ✨💖✨

You guys are legitimately one of my favorite bands. You're just. Not trying to do anything beyond make good music. There's a really genuine feel to your songs, and you've hit such a distinct style as you explore. To put it simply, there's nothing LIKE your songs. A Red Vox track stands out.

I don't think I'll ever forget the first time I listened to this song. I got the notification from Bandcamp and bought it right away, and soon I was sitting outside on a partly cloudy day. Friends were talking around me, but I couldn't hear them too well because I had this turned up higher than usual. I was staring at the clouds and the sun behind them, and as soon as the chorus came around, I was covered in goosebumps. I sat still listening to all nine minutes, and it was quite the emotional experience, being out in nature absorbing the song. It made me think, but at the same time, it emptied my head. I don't really know. This has easily become my favorite song, and though I loved Another Light so so dearly and this marks the end of an era for Red Vox, I'm still excited for the future. Thank you Vin, Mike, Joe, Billy, and everyone for making music that evokes all different kinds of emotions in me and so many listeners. You guys have begun creating the soundtrack for my life, and I'm ready for the next bit.

The past year or so, Vin and Mike have occasionally talked about possibly playing live shows in the future. Previously they've said it would be impossible to play lots of their more recent tracks with just the 4 guys. Now that Jerrald/InnerMotionMusic has somewhat become the 5th member (plays bass on a couple upcoming tracks, has been their bassist for rehearsals recently), it might just be possible. This would be incredible live.

This could be just me but I interpret the lyrics of this song as a goodbye letter or a suicidal note. With lyrics like “I’ll believe it when I die”, and “to those who I’ve betrayed for I close my eyes and sleep forever” as well as lines like “when I was young I dreamed I’d fly I wish I had the nerve to try” being a final regret.
