Kabardino-Balkaria, Dagestan, Ingushetia and Chechnya form North Caucasus, one of the most restricted regions in Russia. It is hard to join a community if you are from the outside and it is just as hard to leave if you belong to it. Things get even worse if you are a woman.
Nevertheless, there are people who are willing to fight for their freedom, regardless the widespread restrictions. They have to oppose the rules of the place they were born in as well as oppose their own family members.
Karina Mukhutdinova interviewed strong women who come from the North Caucasian region in Russia.
