I'm with you on the mental health aspect of riding a motorcycle. I also struggle with issues. Riding a motorcycle sets me free. I refer to it as "Cycletherapy". The sheer bliss of riding gets me out of the house. If it weren't for riding, I would probably stay home most of the time secluded.

This is an outstanding review. Explaining the very essence of a motorcycle. How a motorcycle makes you feel while riding it, the sound of the exhaust note, the way the bike looks, the places you can go. Everything I experience and enjoy on my StreetTwin.

I’ve had mine nearly a year and it was watching this video that help me decide to go for it. Was 40 years since I last was on a bike so wanted something easy to ride and forgiving, but still fun to keep up with my biker mates. Everything you say in the video is spot on about the bike and I absolutely love the damm thing. Ps When I 1st got it I thought the engine sounded a little tinny and high pitched, but after running it in it seems to have deepened so happy now. The engine sounds fantastic when you are cursing about 30MPH in 3rd and open it up to accelerate onto a main road using all of the torque available from the engine.

@@redangrevival thanks mate, it’s 6pm, the sun is out, one of the hottest days this year and I am about to jump on it to go training, [Short ride through the city, then after training off to the local to meet up with a few biker mates] Last Monday it was a beautiful day and I was miserable stuck working at home on the laptop, so I took the afternoon off, rode down to the old part of town to get lunch. Took it to the seafront to eat sitting on the beach. Then rode out of town and through the country lanes in the South Downs, arrived home at 7pm all tired and happy. 😂

Just noticed, this video has absolutely no dislikes! Don't think I've ever seen that before so congratulations! Really dig the Triumph Scrambler. I've had a 2018 Speedmaster for about a year and a half now, and I've got to say I've become quite a Triumph fanboy. The Bonneville engine really is unmatched in my opinion, and Triumph's style is just spectacular. I no longer own a car so it's just me and my Speedy, I'm thinking I want a Triumph Scrambler 900 as my second bike/backup and bad weather bike. You just can't beat a bike like this. Love the positive content you're always putting out, I've struggled with mental health in the past as well and I too find that finding the simple pleasures in like like just going for a ride really does help. Cheers from Houston Texas

@billygowhoopКүн бұрын
The Scrambler 900 really is incredibly easy to ride. The throttle response is really smooth and not at all jerky. The clutch is much lighter than my last bike. It's a bit heavier than your standard entry level bike but I can easily get both feet on the grand and can catch it if the bike starts to lean over. It feels super manageable. I probably wouldn't recommend a beginner getting one of these but there are much worse choices for a first bike. And it is one of the best looking bikes on the market. Every time I go out on mine, I get people saying they think my bike is cool. Riding it makes you feel like James Dean

Many thanks for such an honest and heartfelt review and one that I can resonate with. I bought an ex demonstrator 2019 Street Scrambler in 2020 and had it for just over 15 months, but having several bikes and getting a bit (lot) older decided foolishly that I didn't need as many big bikes so sold it to a dealer locally. Instant regret! Two years on and my MacBook, supposedly randomly, put pictures up of it on the screensaver one night. I couldn't resist the temptation to see if it was taxed and MOT'd; it wasn't so I put a search into Bike Trader and there it was for sale at a non-Triumph dealer 50 miles away. Within a week I had it sitting in my garage to my utter delight and it had only 1,500 more miles on than when I sold it having gone through two more owners. It will not be going anywhere soon and I just can't get enough miles in on it! It is addictive for all the reasons you iterate. All the best for your continued good health and riding safety.

I bought a Triumph Scrambler XC and a Triumph Street Scrambler. I still own the Street Scrambler... the Street Scrambler is so much fun around town, while I felt that the XC fell short in short and long distances... the XC wasn't the right tool for mile crunching or plinking through town... I replaced the XC with a BMW GS and still ride the Street Scrambler... enough said!

That Bonneville’s engine has something of addicting for sure. I own a T120, and I have thought that it was just an experience to have but it turned out to be an object that is sticking to me much more seriously than what I was expecting . I was thinking about trading the bike for the Yamaha MT-10 SP which is a blast of a motorcycle…but somehow I couldn’t do the business. I kept inventing flaws about the Yamaha, just to avoid to let go out the Triumph. It’s incredible but true! “There’s something about her, don’t know what it is…”

I had a 2009 and 2015 Scrambler 900 and loved them, I put 70000km in 3 years on my 2015 (and I had 2 and 3 bikes at times) and it still looked like new when I sold it and it's been through rain, gravel, dirt, touring, etc. A few years later when the Scrambler 1200XE came out, I thought WOW! I need it! I bought it and sold it after barely 3 months losing thousands on it and I was still happy to get rid of it. Was uncomfortable, had some electronic issues, the key fob was often losing connection, I loved the engine and the looks, but everything else made me miss my 2015. I also tried one of these new Scrambler 900s, and they are just awesome bikes, so underrated.

Thank you for doing my favourite bike. I used to think I wanted a cruiser and a Speedmaster fitted the bill. But then, I moved and I met Hetty the Street Scrambler and she spoke to my soul. A beautiful, beautiful classic looking bike that just yearns for exploring, little adventures or even getting from A to B in a timely and stylish way. She didn't feel to high or heavy, very unintimidating. There is a small, female channel who has the gold line version and it is just as fine looking. There are quite a few bikes I like but I will, hopefully, definitely own a Scrambler 900 before I turn up my toes. I too am in love.

SO I bought the 2017 model left over in 2018 at a great discount and have been riding it year round here in Connecticut (New England ) farm country ever since .It is a perfect "Back Road Roadster" .Like your origin bike it has a little less horse power than the new one and the suspension isn't much to write home about ..(I did buy the Tiger off road pegs for it that help posting through the roughest stuff) .I also got heated grips for the cold months and a center stand for chain work ... Being a year round bike I have gone through two chains and a sprocket but the bike laughs at everything I throw at it ..I love that the engine runs on low test and is getting 56 miles per gallon (US ) .. Range is around 165 miles per tank .. I figure owning a bike like this is around $2000.00 equity per season (not counting upkeep) and coming up May this bike will owe me nothing ... Yes I am still in love with the bike .. It has lived under a bag on a concrete slab through the deep snowy winters and is no worse for ware .. Whats not to love .. Wish list : A 4.5 gallon (US) tank ..I wish it had Earlse forks , a longer single back suspension and a shaft drive . If the world made a cross between an R80 BMW and the R69S I would sell the farm to have it ..(Humm then I would have to build a barn for it .. :) Great Review ... Yours Guy

Awesome. Great review. I agree with you completely about throttle therapy. Can't wait for spring as I am already feeling the darkness of winter coming over me. I got a 2023 Trident 660 this past November and love it but I feel like I'm missing the more raw gruntiness of the Speed Twin 900 I test rode at the same time. It was really a flip of the coin for me at that time as I loved both for their differences. Much of what you relayed about this bike struck that cord I've been thinking about concerning the Speed Twin 900. May just have to trade this spring.

Hi Denis, Massive congratulations on taking delivery of yours 👍 Yes a very nice companion for the T120! Just really loved this bike, such a stunning style and really enjoyed the 900cc motor. Ah does it! Sorry about that, I couldn't find the off road mode! Nice to know it has it though 🥴 Cheers and all the best

Sold my T120 last year, didn’t feel I needed all that bike, for the type of riding I’m doing these days, road a r ninet scrambler today, and a Ducati scrambler, loved the bmw, but felt like more than I need. I think the Triumph 900 will be my next bike.

Brilliant review .. I have said before the Scrambler 900 is the best of the Bonny range ....A bike that is more than the sum of its parts . I owned a 2019 (same spec as that one) and sold it ....I regret it too !! I empathize with your mental health issues .. I've had the same struggles myself for most of my life. The single best thing I ever heard on the subject was 'Happiness is a choice ... make it' . It sounds like a flippant remark but actually it isn't , it's a deep truth. .. stay strong keep up the great work😄

I think all of the Triumphs sound great with factory exhaust. I had a T100 a few years ago and loved it. I thought the 900 scrambler was a T100 with a couple different body parts. Its obviously much different. I think I now prefer the look of the scrambler over a T100. Beautiful as a T100 is. All the riding you spoke about….maybe you need a couple/few bikes to own for different days ? Go Ride a 1200 XC scrambler, I had one of those also. Wish I still had it. Curious of your thoughts on it. Riding a motorcycle has definitely helped my mental health, dare I say it may have saved my life ! Have a great day 👍😎
@redangrevival2 жыл бұрын
I agree they all do have a great sound to them 👍 This Scrambler 900 has an especially good exhaust sound! Yes they are very similar bikes, despite the obvious styling differences the Scrambler has wider handle bars and a different engine tune for lower down power. I personally prefer the way the scrambler rides. Just so much fun. Same motorbiking helped me massively and still does today, it really dragged me out of a rut. Same to you and take care. Ride Happy 😁

Seriously been thinking about buying a 2021 onwards speedmaster but I do like the scramblers, the 1200 might be a bit high but now you've done this test the 900 might be in the running instead. Thanks for confusing me even more 😆. I agree about bikes and mental health, I've never suffered with it but I've a good mate who does and his way of coping with it is to get his bike out, I do the same when I've had a busy day at work. Keep up the excellent videos. Thanks.

I rode on a Speedmaster for 3 days and 650 miles in the US in August. A nice machine but the riding position made me lean forward even with pull back bars plus a long time in a slouchy position got my back. All low down power but quite chuggy at lower revs. Personally, the Scrambler has all day riding comfort for me. Spend a few hours on a Speedmaster before hitting “pay now”!
@redangrevival2 жыл бұрын

At the time the mental refreshment of riding a bike is absent from my life. You quoted the msrp of the scrambler. What wasn't discussed was/is the charges for delivery, freight, setup fee and God only knows what else the dealer can concoct. You ask the salesman for a freebie like a center stand and they just stare at you. The bike sells itself but the addons are objectionable.
@redangrevival2 жыл бұрын
Yes I am afraid I cannot get into details such as delivery costs etc... But there are always more costs to consider, the case with most motorcycles unfortunately! But hopefully it is worth the cost 👍

10,700 GBP in Thailand. I considered one at one point, then ended up with a pristine SCR950, two years, seven months old, with 4,200 km on it for 60 per cent of the new price of 10,050 GBP. A bit heavy at 248 kg, fully fuelled. Pros: lower exhaust; cons: tubed tyres. Which I thought the Triumph did, then I spotted 'tubeless' on the tyre in this video.
@redangrevival2 жыл бұрын
Fair enough, sounds like you got a good deal 👍 Yes they do have clever tubeless tyres even though spoked rims!
@1990-t1j2 жыл бұрын
@@redangrevival If I'd known they were tubeless I may well have bought a Triumph. There is a dealer in town. I would never have bought a new SCR, and had initially rejected the idea because of the inner tubes, but this deal was too good to turn down. It has tremendous low-down torque but soon runs out of puff. It is a cruiser engine, after all.

My German Shepherd would get out and I would have to ride my Daytona 500 Triumph my 1973 down to Trails to the lake to go get her. Even on street tires with low Street pipes she handled excellently Offroad. I changed my dog one time on my Sportster on the same trails and I could not believe the difference between the two motorcycles. Mostly because of the weight of the Harley adjusting the Harley Sportster used to be Harley dirt bike. I have a nice BSA 250 single Enduro bike to ride off-road with. Superlight great off-road.

The Zen of Motorcycling - nothing more mindful than riding a motorbike. Immerse in the noise, surrounding and wind and appreciating the impermanence of life. The back to basic style of riding - a touch of essentialism. Only what is needed in the moment, (wo)men and bike, reminiscent of wo(men) and stallion galavanting on the vast open plateau of nothingness. 🏍️ 🐎

I thought This was one of the best Bonnie's, you are right they got it almost perfect, I don't have one because I think that for the money Triumph are short changing us with the classic bikes. The suspension could be a lot better all lights should be led and a front mudguard that was made for a 19 inch wheel, not just robbed out the street twin part's bin. Nice review though and a nice bike.
