i had a business trip to drive from nyc down to bumblefuck virginia a few weeks ago. it was when that lemon party skit of the guy in the hospital bed came out which was pretty good. i was like wow, they made so many episodes of this podcast, i bet it's gonna be great. this will be perfect to listen to on the drive down. It was horrible. I was on their youtube channel, sorted videos by popularity and tried to listen. couldn't get through one episode. during covid i was working from home, and one day i was listening to the bonfire, and i wasn't even really paying attention to it but i suddenly got extremely annoyed by dan soder. i realized all that podcast is is these guys riffing. every sentence starts with "he's like, they're like, you go, they go, he goes, etc." Its Dan feeding premises to Jay that he thinks would be funny. He is omitting the words "imagine if" and then giving a premise that would be funny in his opinion if they made a skit out of it. But they don't make a skit out of it, it dies rihgt there on the podcast. That's what I call riffing. Sam Hyde and Nick Rochefort do this constantly too. Everything on gas digital, everything on compound media. Once I noticed it, I couldn't take it anymore. I felt like I had been awakened from a years long deep deep slumber. And then I found Redbar...
