Jimi Hendrix described Lolly Vegas as the best guitarist he had ever heard. In fact, he suggested that the two brothers, Lolly Vegas and Pat, should create a band. Jimi Hendrix’s suggestion resulted in the birth of Redbone.

Pat and Lolly already had a band. The Sunset Strip's biggest club band in the 1960's, The Pat and Lolly Vegas Band.

I've been watching this clip off and on and felt compelled to comment on Tony. He was an awesome guitarist in his own right and his sexiness just exudes out of his sweaty pores! He added his own flair and personality in the concerts which always brings a smile to my face. He rounded out Pat and Lolly but was often overshadowed by them. He could definitely hold his own in both vocals and talent! RIP Tony and Lolly!!

The instrumental they segue into is called "Put It Where You Want It," originally recorded by the Crusaders. 100% funk. Oh, and I love these guys - how I ever miss out on them? I've heard Come and Get Your Love forever, but I guess I never checked out anything else by them. My error!

Terrific band wearing terrific stage wear. Where ever did they find clothing like that or who designed and made it? Lolly’s red sparkle jacket is SO cool. It’s all bad ass.
@donnau37352 жыл бұрын
Agree! Lolly has a certain flair with his stagewear - more sparkly and flamboyant, but with native tribal designs on them. While he is so cool and confident just standing on the side and not in your face, his stagewear shows that he did pay attention to his attire and that it reflects his roots and personality. Pat also has awesome outfits, as did Tony with more regalia. Other videos show their range of outfits - love it!! They are a truly BADASS band!!

@@donnau3735 Once you are aware they were seasoned professionals and a big deal in the LA club scene for years - the many pieces fall into place. They were doing everything they could to market themselves and doing it well.

Big hit for P.J. in 67 .... strange that at the time when 8 Miles High and Rainy Day Women 12 & 35 were pulled from airplay because of alleged drug references , P.J.'s record went to the top because the radio programmers found the song's Cajun patois unintelligible
