The crossbow went together quickly and the general fit and finish is a bit above what I expected for the price. kzbin.infoUgkx5B43Qabqt1HedUJyfEqxiwBCfaooIH52 The adjustable stock is a little loose. I had an issue when I tried to cock the bow for the first time with the safety on. The string set in the trap box, held just enough to build up enough tension to rip the string out of my hands when it let go. No significant damage was done, and once I got it sighted in, I wrecked a couple bolts by sending one straight down the shaft of the first. I'm holding ~2" groups at around 50 yards, and I'm not an expert by any means. Best part is that they supply all the replacements parts you may ever need

Some things I've learned over the last decade using my crossbow, that weren't mentioned: a deer with its head down will drop faster and further than one with its head up. Also, use a fixed blade instead of a mechanical blade and you'll increase your success rate, especially on a less than perfect shot. Thirdly, illuminated nocks are worth the investment, losing bolts is expensive and in low light you'll have a headstart finding a blood trail. And finally, I've never lost a deer that was hit in the heart, it's the best choice for an ethical kill

I personally have killed oh 25 deer with my crossbow. Not many, but i use rage chissle tip and i shoot threw the shoulder like a rifle. It drops them in tracks and ive never had to track over 40 yards. Blead right out in a min. My experience. Yours may vary.. just wanted to say cuz you said don't and thats cool.. good luck to all hunter's...

I do this too. All my shots with crossbow and rifle are mid shoulder double lung shots. Shot a doe this morning and went maybe 50 yards. I use swhacker 1.75

Better to under estimate yardage than over estimate. Have always heard we tend to over estimate yardage in the woods, and under estimate yardage in a field. Even quiet crossbows are LOUD. I don't play the lottery, but aiming low helps up the odds of winning the harvest lottery. Bare shaft tuning, heavy duty cut on contact broadheads, and medium to heavy weight arrow/broadhead set ups don't hurt either. Give FOC a try. It is amazing.

So would u say just aim for the heart everytime then?
@Kurtdog63
@Kurtdog63 18 күн бұрын
@@jaluntaylor4596 It depends on speed of you arrow and distance to the animal, but I would aim for arrow impact at least 3 inches below center of the rib cage. It is a good idea to experiment with what your arrow drop is at ranges from 20 to 40 yards. A rough formula for the animal dropping SIGNIFICANTLY from the sound of the crossbow is to use the 1/4 of a second rule. Where is your arrow down range in 1/4 of a second? Example would be 1/4 of 350 fps is 87.5 feet or 29 yards for maximum effective range to defeat deer dropping at the sound of the crossbow.

This is False you don’t want to am at the vital organs you one to aim a little lower because most deer Witt duck and if you aim too high they will duck and you will miss so always aim a little lower so you are always going to bring home some venison for your Family

Shoot a little .lower from a tree-stand. TelePrompter must have made a mistake. Never predetermine a deer dropping out of the shot. It doesn't happen that often. I've shot way too many deer that have never moved

A wise, old geezer dude once told me to visualize a basketball with the heart at the center for those quartering away and overhead shots. At times that methodology had me wondering if I were doing it correctly just before I hit the release. I questioned myself but trusted my instincts. It works pretty well.

Only in common vernacular. Strictly speaking, bolts describe an arrow-like projectile without fletching or stabilizing vanes. Most crossbows shoot arrows.

How does a deer with on lung, that has blood and oxygen leaving it's body rapidly, (though not as fast as with both lungs) live for a long time?

Buy yourself a deer target if you decided to get involved in bow season and practice. Gun season hunting Top shoulders, mid Neck, or doe kill head shot behind eye or top front head shot. Brian kill drop where they stand at shorter distances. Just make sure your scope is Mounted well and very accurate when head shots.

Wish I would have watched this video a week earlier. I took a quartering to shot at a big buck and never was able to recover him. Think the shot was in the shoulder blade. Hoping he made it for gun season this coming week. Thanks for making a great video that is easy to follow!

Can a certain power level crossbow shoot through the shoulder?
@redbonebuddy
@redbonebuddy 8 жыл бұрын
+vpsaline There are some crossbows that can produce enough kinetic energy, however, you also have to worry about arrow and broadhead failure. Also, it is always best to have two holes when blood trailing a deer. Even if you blow through the first shoulder your odds of blowing through the second as well is greatly reduced. This is why we aim just behind.

As a bow hunter I've read that an arrow that weighs less than 400 grains will not punch effectively through bone. A cross bow bolt is usually lighter I believe.

I shot a buck in a field straight on about 30 yards away with my crossbow and I will never shoot one again in that position. I watched that deer run in the woods and after about an hour I got down out of me stand and went to find my deer only to not find and blood at all nowhere not a drop. Found it a week later because of buzzards with the arrow still in him.
