Nice review. I do find that I am now gravitating to the high ABV whisky. It gives you so many options and there is so much more flavours. Cheers.

Cheers Gert. Totally agree buddy. I'd rather spend the money and dilute (or not) the whiskey to my palate.

Great stuff Jim. I had a different batch but remember enjoying it very much. The great thing about CS is, if you use water, you get anywhere from 10-20% more whisky. Redbreast is always a staple in my collection. Thank you for a great month of Midleton. Cheers my friend!

I was lucky enough to try the 27 year old the other day. One of the best whiskies I’ve ever had.

Incredible whiskey. I love a port finish and it works so well on that 27. Cheers Kenneth.

Hi, Jim. Nice review. I have batches B1/16 and B1/20 but still haven't tasted them. Earlier this year my colleagues and I gave a bottle of batch B1/21 as a birthday present to a colleague of ours and he was kind enough to share a sample with me. Very nice stuff. Sweet, creamy, full of tropical fruits. I was surprised how gentle it is despite the high ABV. I guess due to triple distillation. Value wise Redbreast 12 CS is pure bargain. Its price has been upped slightly by roughly 1 euro, but I can still buy a bottle for 41 euros in Bulgaria. The availability is getting thin though. 12, 12 CS and 15 are almost everywhere out of stock, especially if one doesn't want to pay through their nose for a bottle. I have an open bottle of Powers 12 John's Lane and compared to it Redbreast 12 CS is richer and more elegant. Still I find John's Lane to be very solid dram, especially considering the price of 20 euros that I paid for it several months ago😀 Cheers!

Cheers buddy. Redbreast does seem to be getting harder to get. We struggle to get the 15 here now. The 12CS comes and goes. It's good product. The Spots are the same. Green Spot, Yellow Spot, Blue, Red, etc. They come and go REALLY quickly. They're just so good.

Great review, Jim, and interesting point of view about the dilution for this kind of whisky...I have to think about it myself (I dont have currently a high strength TD Irish on board, as my Connemara is double distilled, right...but I might take care about that when tasting your sample of the Roe & Co CS) & maybe next time I try my Auchentoshan CS, but it is not Irish. I don't know your alternative bottle but heard about it. Cheers, hoping you're better now...

Cracking review mate. As you know, I'm a massive fan of this one and, in my opinion, it is right up there among the best. I won't mention the 15 (oops, I just did😉) - Hope you're feeling better. Cheers.

Nice review, Jim. I enjoyed it, even with my slim-to-none knowledge about Irish whiskey. I had a Bushmills 10 yo a decade (or so) ago, but I never got back to Irish whiskey.... don't know why, actually 🤔 (I remember it as a decent whiskey back then, even though it was very very early for me, I don't even consider my journey to have started back then). Cheers buddy, hope you're feeling better today 🥃😎

Cheers Benny. I would highly recommend giving Single Pot Still a go. And if trying SPS, then look to anything from Midleton. The're damned good at it. Thanks my friend.
@bennyfriis6012 жыл бұрын
@@WhiskeyNovice Thanks, Jim. Uhm, Midleton - that's a quite wide search criteria, right? Should you by any chance have a wee hint (not necessarily a recommendation) as to what would be good price-value bottlings to look for, I'd really appreciate it. I'm probably not the most price sensitive whisk(e)y fan out there, and I'd honestly rather spend a little more and be off to a better start than to go "all in on budget" (if that kind of "all in" makes sense 🤔😄). Cheers buddy!

Start with Powers John's Lane buddy. One of the best expressions to come out of the Midleton distillery imo. If you enjoy it...give Yellow Spot a go. Then this Redbreast 12 CS. All brilliant pot stills buddy.
@bennyfriis6012 жыл бұрын
@@WhiskeyNovice Excellent, thank you so much 👍 That gives me a more than solid starting point. Especially availability on the Danish market may have a voice too, though, and "help" deciding which one I end up with. Cheers my friend 🥃😎

Enjoying the same bottle / batch as yourself, Jim. Really enjoying it. Have to confess I've fallen for Irish Pot Still. I've had a few Teeling expressions, but none of them a Pot Still. Will keep an eye out. Feeling better?
@WhiskeyNovice2 жыл бұрын
Cheers buddy. Pot Still is a bit like a drug to me. When I get the taste for a bottle, it doesn't matter what's happening in my cabinet....I'M DRINKING POT STILL!!! 😆. If you ever see my collection, there are Pot Still expressions hidden at the back, out of my reach. It's incredible stuff. Feeling better buddy thank you.

Hi Jim, the 12 year old version at 40% is pretty good even though the ABV is low. Still, I’m looking forward to opening my 12 CS. Good review Jim, enjoyed watching it. Slàinte.

Chris, it seems to be distributed to California. I see Wooden Cork is selling it for $69. BevMo! Is selling it for $72, but they don’t ship to many states.

@@josephdevine8768 Thanks Joseph, I'm in NYC and you'd think it'd be easy to find here, but it's not, and we can't have spirits shipped here from out of State. I haven't had Redbreast 12 CS in quite a few years, but there was a time when I considered it one of the best values going.
@josephdevine87682 жыл бұрын
Holy Cow. I live in Missouri and it’s hit and miss as to which States/Stores will ship here. I had no idea NY prohibited all shipping to NY. That’s rough.
@MrChristopherMolloy2 жыл бұрын
@@josephdevine8768 Yep. The ridiculous thing is that wine & beer can be shipped here. I have no idea how long this law has been on the books, but I can tell you that it wasn't enforced up until a few years ago.
@MrChristopherMolloy2 жыл бұрын
@@josephdevine8768 I will also tell you that NYC is NOT a whiskey-town and most bottles beyond those from gigantic multinationals need to be hunted down, special ordered, or can't be had. And in 2022, it might take me 2 hours to travel to a shop roundtrip, burn through a gallon or two of gas, and pay for tolls & parking; so it's really not a pleasant experience.
