Jay Menos I agree. I'm 52 and when I was a kid BMX was just invented. We went through a lot of trouble trying to find land that we could make trails and jumps on without getting chased away by cops.

I'm 23 and we still have that problems today, we had some lush trails about 2 miles from my house, they were my friends, Nat's. Nat had found this run down bit of land about 20 years ago, him and his dad in their own time he'd made them, they were lush... Every year he'd go and maintaint them and extend them, and when I started to ride, I also helped, and one day... One day we were riding towrds them and the sound of diggers and workmen hit us... It was all gone... Yep. We all had a tear in our eye that day :/

Hey for anyone interested, dont worry! Gorge Road is not being destroyed any time soon! It was blown way out of proportion in the pinkbike and red bull articles, but all that is happening is the council is changing the land lease from 5 years to 12 months. So instead of renewing the lease every 5 years, they have to renew it every year now! So as long as they continue to renew it and look after the jumps, it should stay up and running for many years! I am moving to Queenstown soon, and I thought the same, but turns out it should be ok and I am excited to learn to ride here! Thanks for your time and I hope this helps :)

i live in new zealand.. well, auckland if that counts? and damn i feel ashamed now, always wanted to learn to surf, i skate alot, bmx occasionally, and take my mx bike up to woodhill forest which has heaps of sans trails which is really fun.. but barely ever been out of auckland and ive been spending way too much damn time on youtube lately.. youtube can be cancer for the lazy and unmotivated, lol... this video is the opposite of that though.
