i was 4 years old when this great washer came to be, and it still looks as pristine as ever, my hat's off to you.

This was our first Wm, when came to Canada, my Mom had a Miele, but she left behind in England, we stayed with my Uncle, my Aunts machine,, was across from ours, she had a Bauknecht 488S, I was obsessed with that machine.

That's an interesting feature on these machines, a "Push to Start, Pull to Stop" timer. I found a 1980 or somewhere around that time, Whirlpool Imperial Seventy belt drive machine in an almond color, on craigslist, $100 bucks for both the washer and dryer set. The one I found however doesn't have that feature, it's just the traditional design "Pull to Start, Push to Stop" timer. But it is mechanically made stuff man! Gee, wonder if I could actually get that set, and keep it in our garage for a spare washer and dryer set.. I'm actually pretty sure it's near us, but unfortunately it didn't say where. Not kidding, really! :D Great vid though! Love stuff like this! ;)

These WP/KM machines along with Maytag were my absolute favorites.

And to think if someone bought ten of these and kept them wrapped up in a vault all these years in an oxygen free room, they could make a mint off of them today. I know plenty of people that would pay a thousand for one in mint condition. because they will never make them like this again. This thang is cleanin' dem clothes ... no bullshit here.

My grandmother had a 1969 or 1970 model, next price point up from this, I think, same color agitator. Worked awesomely. Built like a Sherman tank. Still in regular use through the 80s into the 90s as far as I recall. It may still be in the family.

They don’t build them that solid like that anymore! Those old school machines will outperform any of those newer ones out today . That right there is the real deal ! Solid as Sears !

These machines used a lot of water but they sure lasted long better than today's stuff

Why don't modern washers have lint filters instead of depositing it back on your clothes?
@bigfoot0607755 жыл бұрын
Because most all of the lint is removed by the dryer, and unlike in the early days of the automatic washing machine, almost everyone that has one also has a dryer.

If you wanted you could just take the 2 wires from the lid switch cut them and then splice them together bypassing the switch. i did that on my 95-96 speed queen.

@tvtimetravel I had to ask a very good friend who collects Kenmores that question and he thinks you're right as he's not seen any 1970's and up Kenmores with that 'WASH 'N WEAR' tag. You might like his videos of vintage Kenmores. His channel name is MustangFanNC...

This washer is so far above today's washers which are cheap pieces of plastic crap manufactured by all of the major manufacturers the only one that is even worth it salt is speed queen

Thats a pretty good washing machine you have there. What make is it?
@madlyderanged13 жыл бұрын
@mattTheSaiyan - They assume that you have a dryer that will remove the lint, and that is the biggest load of nonsense that I've ever heard.
