Very nice ! I think the rest of the company's are going to be following suit. I just bought my daughter a gen 8 last year , so maybe after a while I'll just be able to purchase the body. But pretty nice hobby shop , seem like nice people. Also I forgot tape the holes on the wheels and my daughter went through a bunch of water, and after I dried the tires out I glued the holes and the foams are perfect. Been driving it out in the snow and working great.

I must have gotten crappy magnets, but I went back to velcro, my shell kept popping off over rocks. I went with KYX rails and man did they make a big difference I am actually using the rails as a fulcrum in tight turns. The KYX rails have 3 screws that need to be filed and thread locked, or they tend to hang up a bit.

Boil your foam inserts for one minute, dry and re-install. This will soften the memory foam for good. No need to replace. This tip is on the Redcat site too.

Drag Brake Increase Rate on AUTO is the best setting. Auto mode functions FLAWLESSLY in all gears... it’s impressive and even smoother when crawling too! THEN adjust Drag Brake Force if you (for some reason) need more braking.

Exocaged RC, yes AUTO is freakin amazing. It applies maximum braking force right up to like the 99.9% point where the tires lockup; but the auto brake never lets that happen! So if you let off the throttle completely at top speed in high gear, it’ll smoothly apply the maximum braking it can based on traction available. It works like ABS, but smoother since it is electronic. THIS ALSO makes for extremely smooth stops on inclines whilst crawling!! Which you know, can make the difference in slipping or not. **I also only use LEVEL 2 PUNCH. This helps to take advantage of the crazy smooth operation WITHOUT stalling so much like LEVEL 1 and not touchy like a high level. But I correspond that setting with HIGH for RPM MATCHING. This all results in a total sloth-like crawler! NOTE: these settings are on a TRX-6 with AXE 550 3300 and Fantom battery.

The most dramatic upgrade I have made as far as performance has been Tires and a moderate weight beadlock wheel. My favorite has been the Hyrax predator, but I have some Ottix Voodoo KLR/m and Milestar Patagonias on the way.

I did a few videos with different tires and foams. This truck needs about the same stiffness as stock but not a memory foam. Hope that helps.

I can verifiably say that the Gen8 AXE edition now comes with much better foams in the tires. I put them in the freezer for an hour, and when I took them out they were just as pliable as they were before I put them in. I have a love-hate relationship with certain Chinese companies. On one hand, they listen to the customer base and fix issues their products have. On the other hand, you never know what you're going to get because they make running changes to their product lines without changing SKUs. I'm glad I got the better foams in my tires, but who knows what you might get in your box -- it depends how long it's been sitting on the shelf.

If you pull out the dash there are (I believe) 3 spots for leds to be installed for lighting the dash, pretty sure it’s 3.

Man good video, love the channel! I own a vaterra, trx4, and scx10ll and in my opinion redcat really gave the top dogs a run for their money on this one. I believe they just stepped up the rtr crawler game by doing this. Everyone else has to step it up now. Kinda like how arrma came in and gave traxxas a run for their money a few years back and forced them to get rid of their old dated designs and start pumping out better quality rigs... kinda... keep it up and cant wait to see it out on the slab!!!

The only Mod every Axe owner should make is changing the plastic link frame mounts from plastic to metal. 4 pieces and about $25. Firms up the pan hard bar and stiffens the links for less flexation.

I’ve heard you complaint numerous times about drivelines not in phase on a rc truck. With a real vehicle....I absolutely agree because vibration will happen. But for a rc...can’t see your point.

does the same thing with RC as it does with real vehicles, we just aren't in there to feel it. in a faster RC you can hear it if you listen. you can feel it by pushing this truck with a few out of phase shafts, Thing is with these trucks, the shafts all seem to be different, some are more in phase than others.

Sorry the costs get so high where you are. The stock tires are really good it’s the foams that freeze in cold weather. So really the only thing that needs upgrading are foams, that’s it.

Thankfully I've located a female Deans that feeds to a 'male' Traxxas plug on Amazon. I don't care about the principle cost of the RC, but I'll be damned if I'm purchasing ANOTHER battery/charger combo just to run a different RC brand. How do I 'pair' that bomb-ass controller to my TRX4? Owning TWO crawlers isn't profligate or bad; is it?

Or you could get away from traxxas proprietary bs plugs and go xt60/xt90 that can hold real amperage. If cost isnt a concern get a better charger and junk the traxxas stuff. The first thing I do to a traxxas rig is cut those plugs off. Good luck bro

You’ll need another receiver for the TRX. you can make the gt5 run the features independently but they are a little bit cumbersome and take some getting used to. It can hold multiple models and has a gyro in the receiver.

sunseasurf1000 pinion and spur are 32p. But all the trans gears and tcase gears are mod1. That’s why it’s so loud. One thing for sure is you won’t break them. LoL.
