REDD is the way forward, there is need to encourage community based conservation at grass root level.

By creating a carbon market and turning the worlds forests into carbon stock, Rich, developed nations who are creating the bulk of the GHG emissions will buy into these carbon markets (AKA buy forests) and can continue polluting in their own countries. Yes, the people who live near the forest will get paid, but the people within the forest will be evicted and displaced. REDD does not actually reduce GHG emissions, it just allows the countries who create them to feel better while still polluting.

@Tighen31305 When you build a new island the water level of the rest of the sea rises. Which city do you want to flood and put under water first? Venice? London? Why don't we just get smarter about caring for our land areas? REDD makes sense. It's at least the best solution so far. Unfortunately, it doesn't address the causes - e.g. it does nothing to reduce worldwide demand for frivolous consumption, but it's a good start to fixing the problems.

@Tighen31305 dude, we can't make more land. the ocean is were it all started. we need to take care of the plants and animals that we already have. we can't just stop taking care of these life forms. we must make them strong and alive again before we can move on.

Developed countries always blame devloping countries for climate change but what about the carbon emission and industrial hazardous waste that they produce ? For this developed countries should incure the cost of reducing emission and this nature belongs to everyone and we all need to protect it...🙏🙏🙏

its time to work on protecting trees and we should reduce population+pollution

Instead of industrialized countries to stop emitting carbon, they use REDD+ to continue releasing carbon into the atmosphere while using developing countries' forests as sinks. However REDD+ is good idea
