No drinking calories is the single best rule. I allow myself beer and protein shakes, and nothing else on that front (except in december- I have a weakness for seasonal beverages then). That one nutrition tip can be measured in pounds at the end of the year for anyone drinking a blended coffee beverage or a coke multiple times per week. I'm not a fan of diets centered on total exclusion, but I would challenge anyone struggling with weight and saying nothing works to simply cut liquid calories out entirely and remain on the same growth trajectory they were on. You have cravings for a few weeks, but after the adjustment and realizing what all that added sugar was doing, you begin to look for other places to trim a little more sugar out of your diet. I've never done an extreme cut of sugar, but I am convinced that if you were only capable of having one dietary rule, the best to choose would be to drink no calories.

Going through a bunch of old videos to avoid studying for a bit here. Also, by watching you talk about exercise for a long time, I get to feel as if I'm putting in work towards my fitness without actually doing it lol. Don't worry, I'm a good girl, I'll come arounf to my homework and workout eventually, just not right now. Cool videos thanks

He showed them that the limits of the reality were infinitely wider than the restrict imagination of the humanity was capable of conceiving, and that only a few could see beyond this limits - only a few dared to questionate even your existence. And those were the Assassin's. And because of the Assassin's were capable to see the world like it really was, everything to them was possible - everything was allowed. (Assassin's Creed - The secret crusade). I believe that this part of the book represents your thinking coach. Thanks for all the great work you do and to open our minds to the real science we need to learn.

I lost a few pounds by switching from drinking gatorade to just water. Also, I've seen studies that say that your brain doesn't seem to register calories that you drink so it fails to send the satiation signal to your stomach if you drink things like smoothies and shakes. The tip about listening to your body for hunger cues is my next thing to work on as I automatically reach for a snack when I read or watch youtube. :)

Matt, I have something of a major gag reflex with eating different fruits. I solved this by putting the whole fruits together in a blender with some water to help liquefy. I don't drink it all at once so I am not consuming too much calories but I am wondering after watching this if you would recommend not doing that.
@RedDeltaProject7 жыл бұрын
Pureeing is a bit different than juicing. If the whole fruit is going into the blender and then you're drinking what you blended then that's much better than juice which removes most of the fiber. Still, it can be easier to drink a lot more than eat the same amount. But you be the judge. If you feel and look good doing that then keep on it.

Hello, i have an important question, how much time do i have to spend to reach my potential? let's say that i have a busy 60-70 hour workweek (including transportation and getting ready for the job that's pretty much a normal workweek for many people), 56 hours sleeping, good nutrition on check, but only, let's say 4 hours a week to train, can we reach our potential with that time?
@patouxb7 жыл бұрын
No. But 4 hours is still more than 0, so anything is worth it.
@MerrillSnowden7 жыл бұрын
Shk 1816 in my opinion it’s plenty of time, I’d say it’s twice the time you actually need, especially if you are able to train at home (going to the gym and back can take a lot of time). in those 4 hours you can even include stretching or some high intensity cardio. in your situation the most difficult thing might be finding the energy for workout after 12 hours spent at work. but you will always feel better after some sweating, so it’s worth being motivated to train :)
@bakters7 жыл бұрын
4 hours equals 8 half-hour workout sessions. That's plenty. If you are really pressed for time, do circuit training. Two or three exercises, maybe more if you care more about endurance than muscles, and do a set of each with controlled rest intervals. You can do them non-stop fashion. Initially it sucks like hell, but over time you adapt. The other option is to set a time limit and simply pile on as many reps as possible within this time. Say, 15min for warmup, then a 15 min period where you try to do as many pullups, pushups and squats as you physically can. The other day you can choose leg raises, rows and bridges, for example. Or dumbbell clean&press and lunges. Dumbbells fit under bed, so they are feasible for home workouts, though one needs to be more careful with those. The other option is to do 4 one-hour sessions, but I always come back to training daily. Even if life interferes, I don't lose much. It's just one day. One rest day per week is probably beneficial anyways.
@shakayojgph7 жыл бұрын
Jakub Kasperkiewicz yeah, i was thinking about that, that's an advantage of callistenics, is very easy to have a home gym, maybe just a pull-up bar, and a set of dumbells and a bar with some plates to do a little of weight training, and that's all, you save a lot of time, you can even do other things, like listening to fitness videos, training with your girlfriend, something like that.
@bakters7 жыл бұрын
+Shk 1816 - You can skip the barbell. A set of adjustable dumbbells takes virtually no space in comparison. Dumbbells are also safer, both to you and the environment in which you train.

I cut out most "crap" food apart from monster energy drink's but i choose the sugarfree version, i'm aware they are loaded with sweetner's, and only have them once a week. Also, i'm lean & fit all year round because of my genetic's and my exercise regimen but i understand people watching this video need advice on how to lose weight. Personally, it's fine to have some junk food so long as one is in-tune with their body & level of progress in term's of their physical goal's and of course; how to reach those set goal's.

Protein shakes are fine, you just need to make sure you still factor in the calories in them when you're dieting. If you're drinking 500 calories a day but still consuming a total that is under your maintenance calories, you'll lose weight.

@RedDeltaProject5 жыл бұрын
Yup something like Milk will have a much higher nutrient density so it's more worthwhile to drink. Just be careful of how much you're drinking, but that's one of the reasons why the old bodybuilders used to swear by milk as a weight gainer.

Cannot agree with the last one. Dieting is much more important than burning calories by working out. You can burn a minimal amount of calories compared to the number of calories "taken away" simply by not consuming them.
@bakters7 жыл бұрын
He doesn't advocate to simply prolong your workouts. He says that we all should stay more active by purposefully avoiding calorie saving conveniences, like elevators, cars, tv remotes and such. You can vastly increase your maintenance calorie requirements. Periodically I double them. Not by working out, mind you, but by either actually doing a heavy physical work for up to 5 hours a day, or by sailing, where even the simplest tasks require more energy. You need to do a few one-legged squats and a lengthy walk just take the piss in the port - just to give an example. All postmen used to be slim. All people living in the mountains used to be slim too. They still are, for the most part. You just can't weight 150 kg while taking the stairs up to 18th floor several times a day. You'd need to eat all the time to get there.
@Peace_Guard7 жыл бұрын
Well. I do sit at work, as do many today. It's not that easy to be active all the time. And mind this - a 100 g snack pack of walnuts is around 650 kcal, which would require you to train heavily for a couple of hours to burn. It's easier to miss the pack, than to burn it.
@bakters7 жыл бұрын
+Peace Guard - Yes, that's true, but easier doesn't always mean better. I think he argues here that stepping on the throttle a bit is generally a good thing. And I find it hard to not agree with that.
@brave70335 жыл бұрын
