She's clearly paranoid, hopefully just that & not mentally ill. Walks around her own home by herself wearing a mask, she then deals with this for supposedly a YEAR before even looking through her own apartment, alerting management OR authorities? Hearing people in apartments walking your same path isn't odd considering most units are exactly the same floor plan.. Her assuming the individual below her is "stalking" her by walking around is wild, plus if she had cameras watching her why would the individual need to walk around in tandem with the OP??

Unfortunately machines are not good at recognizing human speech patterns especially with accents and things like that.

Americans calling it a scam is hilarious. If you'd bothered to check the website you would have seen that it was being advertised as a novelty gift and even if you didn't and you thought you could buy a piece of paper that would legally make you a lord or lady then you're nothing short of an idiot. Literally everyone that has spent more than a month of their life in Europe knew that buying a 1 sqft plot of land would in no way give you a legitimate royal title. I agree. If he wants it might be worth putting a timestamp at the beginning of him reading the actual post that leads to the part of the video that's basically the TL;DR, and likewise putting a timestamp at the beginning of the tldr that lets everyone else skip past it. That way the people who want to hear the full post can, those who want to hear just a summary can, and nobody gets bogged down in unnceccesary repetition.

The whole "you never hear your downstairs neighbors" thing drives me insane. I am in a top floor apartment for that very reason but my downstairs neighbors are so fucking loud that I HAVE to stomp to get them to stop screaming at each other and slamming things at 2 in the morning. I also hear every single time they come and go, when they start cooking dinner or doing dishes. It's a nightmare. I miss when no one lived there. And yes, I can generally pinpoint where they are in the apartment because they're louder in whatever area corresponds. Having heard the u/blueblackjupiter story a couple of times as well as lived in a number of less than pleasant apartment situations, I wonder if the upstairs neighbor was the one with the paranoia and/or mental health issues -- not an outright or intentional case of stalking, but maybe she was just retired/unemployed and the kind of bored/lonely that causes you to start drama with people. Maybe the building has odd ways of creaking that make it easier to hear the neighbors downstairs (as other commenters have mentioned, it is very much possible to hear downstairs neighbors, depending on the way the building is assembled and maintained). Maybe the upstairs neighbor was irrationally angry at what she perceived as an excess of sound coming from downstairs. Maybe it was just generalized harassment without the full-on stalking, given the distinct fact that when OP did things like turning on the shower, the upstairs neighbor would stomp around more. Sounds frustrating as hell either way, though. The bad neighbors I've had never want to talk, they just want to start fights and villainize anyone who tries to defend themselves. The other folks all moving out of the upper floor adds another level of spooky, buuut it also lends a lot of weight to the idea that the woman upstairs drives everyone else up the wall. Maybe she's just loud af and no one can stand it. Either way, fascinating case of whose-stalking-who.
@james312
@james312 Жыл бұрын
Having had a neighbour that was like this, I can believe it too, and as much as I liked my apartment, I was relieved in a way to not have to live around that person anymore, it can be very mentally taxing and stressful with a neighbour like that, an irrationally annoying neighbour can definitely have a big effect on someone choosing to move elsewhere. Since these neighbours never technically do anything criminal, they’re free to just continue acting like that for as long as they want, and it’s often hard to prove. Who knows what was going on with OP’s case, but it’s definitely not unheard of for a neighbour to harass and pick fights with other neighbours in passive aggressive ways for no reason.

First story made me think the upstairs neighbour might have a secret pet or something? Especially if the landlord's claims of not letting maintenance workers into the apartment are true, since she wouldn't want to get kicked out if pets aren't allowed. SHE might not always be home, but a big, bored dog in a small apartment might be pacing around. If not, in my opinion it has to be some structural problem with the building. The fact that the "stomping" gets louder when she's taking a shower, using the bathroom, doing her dishes, etc. makes it seem like the pipes are reverberating or something. Those don't sound like footsteps to me, they happen too infrequently. I think OP got herself freaked out.
@jamesknapp64

Yeah take could very well be it.

At first I was considering that it might be some structural problem that makes all subsequent footsteps louder, making it sound like someone is always hovering over you, even as they are in reality leaving a room. But that didn't make sense to me. Reverberating pipes would perfectly explain how that could happen. The upstairs neighbor might be in the kitchen making a cup of tee but the OP hears incrementally louder thumps over head and feels like she is being followed.
@cecilross2848

That would also explain how the "upstairs neighbor" could hear them, dogs (and cats) have great hearing. AND why the neighbor got mad when OP confronted them. The only thing that doesn't suit that is the bleach, but it's also possible that was a separate incident with a different neighbor being a racist asshat.

Just a note from my personal experience regarding the first rabbit hole, you can absolutely hear people who live below you depending on the structure of the apartment you live in. I've lived in at least 3 places in the past where I could easily hear my downstairs neighbor shuffling around even just faintly. It was never all the time but it would have been pretty easy to tell which area of the apartment they were in. Even the townhouse I live in now I can hear my young nieces moving around downstairs all the time and they have pretty light footsteps and I'm usually listening to something like I am now. I can hear them from the other side of the house at times, it just depends on how a place is built. People being so certain that you can "NEVER" hear the people who live below you is what I think derailed OP's post the most. That being said it's my personal opinion that she was just being a bit paranoid and her neighbor was probably just someone who moves around a lot in their dwelling, I tend to do the same. I fidget a lot and am constantly getting up for one thing or another. If someone was so inclined and lived below me I'm sure that could be mistaken for stalking just the same. The mind plays tricks on us all the time, especially when we live alone and when in a new place it can get out of hand pretty easily. For a long time I though my neighbor across the street would stare up at me in my window all the time at night while outside smoking, come to find out when I awkwardly asked him why he always looked up towards my window at night he explained he wasn't and that he just liked to watch the moon while he had his smoke outside and the moon falls just over my window after around 8pm until about 10pm every night. It was easy for me to understand because I do the same in the morning when having my coffee and a smoke because the sun comes up just over his house and if he was a nervous weirdo like myself he could assume I was a stalker watching him.

However I didn't really like that you repeated word for word what you had already read aloud from the reddit post, it was unnecessary and dragged on too long imo. Always love your videos! EDIT: For the first story, I'm thinking it could be the OP being paranoid as the later reddit comments explained. Maybe it's all a coincidence. But then there's the bleach. I wonder how the bleach bottle was placed: was it straight in the middle of the OP's door mat, or was it to the side as if the cleaner could have forgotten it? And personally I would definitely go upstairs ask the neighbour what her business is, preferably with a trusted friend in case she is actually nuts and tries to harm me.

Just finished the first story and I highly doubt the upstairs neighbor was doing anything nefarious. First, how would she have gotten hidden cameras into the apartment? Unless she did it at some point when it was vacant. Then she wouldn't have possibly known who was going to move in. So unless she intended to annoy literally anyone who moved in below, it wouldn't have been targeted at op specifically. Also, being a person below someone sucks. You hear the people above you do all sorts of stuff. And some of it seems baffling. The last time I lived under someone, it sounded like they never sat still, ever. There was constant movement. All day and night. I think op just got fixated on the sounds and made more of it than was actually the case.

With the movie theory, it'd be.. really simple to either confirm or rule it out. Is there a scene similar looking to the image? No? Well, is the clothing of the actors similar to Guy A's? No? Okay, then it's most likely not from the movie. There wouldn't be any point to have the actors be in a completely different outfit that's not shown anywhere else in the film for a single scene, even if it's cut, at least in a movie like that. I haven't watched it, but usually in media, or even in real life, when you're stuck in the woods with people after you, changing your clothing isn't very high on the priority list, and I doubt there's many outfit changes in the film. Not sure if it's Teddy or not, but I don't think the image is from any movie.

You make some really good points about checking for both scene composition AND character clothing. The clothing thing is genuinely a really good way to rule it out as an idea in general but not 100%. I remember watching a director's commentary with James Cameron where he said that his process for editing down movies that are too long is to remove entire plot elements across the movie that are less important, instead of just trying to shorten scenes enough to hit the mark. I find it to be unlikely in this case, but not impossible. That being said I also haven't seen Deliverance either so who knows.

@@sqeeye3102 lol it's funny you described James Cameron not shortening scenes but actually editing out the whole minor plot elements, as this is literally how you SHOULD edit movies especially during filming. Nowadays we have the stupid way of editing which is literally to shorten scenes instead (which is how we've ended with all the random director cuts and Zack Snyder JL which was soo much better than the original imo) in school they teach you plot elements are the most important but to have it as closely planned as possible but still being able to take away, I think it'd roughly 60% of the story, and still understand it. (I.e. one reason star wars the original did so well as it draws on the easiest of symbols of dark and light and literally as light is shown with the rebels and pure darkness with the empire).

Really think that the first one was just anxiety and confirmation bias. I can totally remember when I was younger, especially with friends, psyching ourself in to believing people were stalking or acting strange who were just being normal. Alleged following above and stomping is so weird as well. Additionally, when you’re looking for it it’s easy to confirm things. One “follow” is enough to override 30 movements that were not follows. I get we want to be concerned but there is no proof and almost assuredly no cameras as she looked and could not find any. The only “proof” beyond allegations are the videos which didn’t prove much to me especially as the upstairs neighbor’s behavior didn’t seem perfectly consistent with her movements and moved towards and away from her. In the face of common sense telling us that following above is extremely unlikely and NO CONCRETE PROOF telling us that it is a constant thing she is experiencing, the most logical thing is she is not being followed and I say this will full compassion that I don’t think she is intentionally lying.

Agree. Add to that the lack of cameras found and the fact that, when it was just her friend alone in the apartment, suddenly the behavior stopped? One doesn't have to be a paranoid schizophrenic to have paranoid thoughts and temporary delusions. They can be the result of stress, sleep deprivation, medication side effects, other psychiatric disorders, etc. Other than having a neighbor who walks loudly above her in what appears to be a relatively small space, the video didn't really "prove" anything. And one of the original commenters was right: if there were cameras around...why would the person upstairs need to follow her around? She could just....watch on the camera?

I actually might know what’s up with the upstairs neighbor, because I AM the weird upstairs lady of my duplex. I don’t leave the house and don’t work. I’m diagnosed with many things, one of which is schizotypal personality disorder. It makes me super paranoid and causes extreme social anxiety. It's a schizophrenia-spectrum disorder. I live like a hermit and only speak to my husband. On top of that I have a HUGE sensitivity to sound (my hearing is insane) as well as misophonia. Even as a very small child I slept with a sound machine to mask noises and covered my ears all the time. I wear headphones most of the day because sounds nobody else seems to hear drive me nuts. And yes, I CAN hear my downstairs neighbor from time to time, but not with 100% accuracy. We have hardwood floors though. I would never treat my neighbor like this though. Let me make that abundantly clear. Have I had crying fits hiding in the bathroom because the neighbor dog won’t stop barking? Yes, but I’m not going to cause a scene. I know I’m the one with the issue. I take my medicine, see a therapist, and cope as best as I can. I wish the woman in the video would do the same. Her mental illness does not excuse her poor behavior or her racism. I don't act like that and it makes me angry when people use a mental illness diagnosis to excuse such things. All it does is stigmatize people like me. It makes me sad that my mental illness might possibly scare someone. I don't want to harm anyone. I'm just a person trying to live my life with an incredibly intrusive disorder. I really hope that people reading this will think of me when they hear stories like this, because we aren't boogiemen. With the last story/case, I'm sure there are more cases of crime scene photos that have been found many years later at a secondhand store like Goodwill, however due to the photo quality, an identification is highly unlikely, and with the movie theory I think the producers could answer for certain if they're still alive or the production cast. It theres simply no way to answer if the photo is teddy, or another missing person or if it was a joke, sadly.

The first story sounds plausible and I don't think she's just paranoid. The PITUA doesn't need to have a reason to do this to OP. There've been stalking/harrasment cases where the person causing all this has delusions that make little to no sense to be doing the things in the first place.

Just a recommendation, not sure you need to wrap up right after you read a story. Since you’re the one narrating it’s like you’re telling the story twice in a row, albeit truncated the second time. Obviously if the story isn’t very clear it would make sense to clarify but these were pretty straightforward. Keep up the great work.

For the first one, I'm just wondering if there has been any suggestion of an animal. I have heard cases of people hearing footsteps in their attic only to find out it was some sort of animal. Pet dogs and cats tend to follow me around whenever I go to my parent's. Don't a lot of pets/animals have extrasensory perceptions? Maybe it was a large dog that can smell the OP and was abandoned by its owner - maybe its so hungry that it follows the OP around hoping to be fed?
@haley3656
@haley3656 Жыл бұрын
This is a great theory that I hadn’t seen yet about the noise coming from the upstairs apartment! My upstairs neighbor has a larger sized dog, and I can definitely hear him running around during the day and sometimes at night. I’ve never complained and there’s not much to do anyways because the doggy needs to move around a large area. Also, I think daily routines could explain why the neighbor is making noise in the same rooms above. For example, if the OP is making dinner at the typical time of day, it is likely the upstairs neighbor would be in the kitchen around the same time to also cook dinner. I can hear my upstairs neighbor’s shower turn on around the same time I shower in the early morning too. I can hear my neighbor move pots and pans around at breakfast and dinner time while I’m also in the kitchen. I really don’t think it’s stalking in this case. Apartments are just noisy sometimes.

I haven't thought about this in years. I had the exact same experience as the first story in the early 90s. The upstairs neighbor walked above me everywhere I went in my apartment. Even if I stopped they would stop. I had carpeted floors so there was no way they could hear me and small cameras weren't a thing back then. I couldn't understand how they knew where I was. It freaked me out. I also never ever saw that neighbor. I moved out after just a couple months without even talking to the rental office and the strange thing was they never did anything about me breaking my lease.

With the teddy franks shot, if it was a movie, there'd be a lot more shadows and possibly even a boom mic and a camera on a tripod. Also, I'm sure there'd be something on the photo with info or dates. I wonder what type of paper it was printed on. I think that could be a clue on if it was printed by a film company or if it was printed in a personal darkroom.

Re: Woman who never leaves apartment...how does she get mail, groceries, or throw away garbage? Second, as you have little to lose, why not "stalk" her door to talk? Or rather, confront. Did the Property Manager who took over NOT do this himself? I don't know what "leaving in secret" is supposed to mean, regarding the former roommate. It might be useful to try to track that person down as well though, if one thinks there is some clue why the woman above you acts that way. As to HOW she may be doing it...either she CAN hear more than you think. Or she has a manual way of peeking, not cameras. One could try white noise to make it harder to hear yourself. Why would the landlord/property manager not simply let you transfer to another apartment within the building??

It really sounds like the person from the first story is slightly paranoid. The fact that they missed months of work because they think someone is in the same room as them even though they’re not in the same apartment is a little extreme. There’s nothing dangerous about what that person is doing, even if it is what OP says it is. OP also says that the person upstairs has reacted to certain things as if they were hidden cameras, but gives no examples whatsoever of what those things might be which leads me to think that never really happened. What sort of reactions were they? Reactions to what?
@RosinaRosinaRosina
@RosinaRosinaRosina Жыл бұрын
i think they’re referring to the fact that the neighbour shouldn’t be able to hear where OP is walking since OP cant hear their downstairs neighbours at all. Therefore, assuming that a camera would be necessary for the neighbour to know which room OP is in.
@ishmiel21
@ishmiel21 Жыл бұрын
@@RosinaRosinaRosina Sure, but like someone replied to the OP, why would they walk from room to room if there were cameras? That doesn't make sense. If there were cameras, the person would most likely sit in front of the screens and watch feeds. Also, the part of missing months of works makes zero sense for someone not suffering from some sort of mental illness. On the part "you can't hear your downstairs neighbors" - you DO. in old or shitty homes you can hear them so perfectly well. Our house is pretty old and not THAT great. so anything touching the walls and the floors can be heard on all 3 floors. It's not too bad, but yeah. Sorry for this comment. I listened to the lady with the "stalking," neighbour and didn't hear anything. I waited 2 months before complaining about new neighbours above me who yelled, drilled and hammered constantly all NIGHT before calling security at 2:30am. When I did, they informed me police were coming and my neighbours were sick of them for months of the daily noise...and police were coming again despite multiple warnings to arrest them. Now it's quiet. But if i had suspicions of cameras and such I would of bought the equipment to find any cameras or recording devices. She didn't. And who pays rent without a lease or watches a building lose EVERY single tenant when apartments were a rarity during the pandemic...people were paying a year in advance to get an apartment, which is illegal for landlords to do, but people took advantage of the housing crisis...and people are leaving because she walks around? I've had a swastika carved in my door and it was painted over... a small bottle of bleach is not a big deal. I think the entire story is simply someone looking for attention or a RPG.
