As an Indian, I have never been a fan of Rishabh Pant and never thought he deserved a place in Test side but I believe he has got some backing within BCCI just like Gill. His contribution is only to make 25-30 runs in T20 style when we need more matured test players like Reddy. He is an unreliable asset aur Rohit Sharma ka bhi vahi role hai. That's not how you win test matches. We have won last 2 series in Australia and won at MCG in both 2018 and 2020. If you watch the Amazon Prime series "The Test", the Australians really liked Pujara as a Test cricketer. He batted for 11 hours at MCG and tired out the Australian bowlers. When a team bats for long, it gives enough time to the bowlers to get recovered physically but because of this T20 playing style cricket in Test and Gautam Gambhir's senseless approach, they don't get enough time to get recovered. I won't be surprised if Bumrah picks up an injury because he is required to play in Champions Trophy and IPL. Saud Shakeel and Babar are amazing test players and they should be supported. I also like the approach of Abdullah Shafiqui. Keep these players in Test but not in ODI or T20.

However it also depends on his role in the team and not on his ODI ranking. Remember, it's a team sport. I go back to my statement he hasn’t played enough test matches. India whenever they tour Australia or England they atleast have 5 to 4 matches test series. Babar gets 2 test matches. So he has fewer chances. More games the more focus and locked in you get. It’s kinda a disadvantage he has that Pakistan isn’t good in test. T20 we can manage. ODI we can manage cos he’s a good ODI batter. Test it’s difficult cos we don’t play enough.
