To mitigate the uneven angles at the top, you could use a board that fits between the two wall forms to make sure the top is angled to your needs, just as you with your inner sidewall boards.

Hi I loved this video! Do you know how much weight a wall like this can support? Like is it possible to hold a second floor? After it dries it gets like a rock in terms of stronghtess?

Hey Ricky, how big is that lift/wall? I am putting a design together and there is a single wall that the project works around and anchors to - it will be a 23ft tall, 14.5' long, 18" thick wall. What do you think about that? Too tall? What would you say is the highest single wall you would construct? Thanks in advance, great to see that despite problems, you are are still going great.

Hey Drew, I'm definitely not an expert but in my opinion it depends on the strengths you are getting. I would suggest doing crush tests to see what the psi rating of your mix design. If they are above 3000 psi you would probably be good with a wall that high if the rebar is going through it. Hope that helps

Combine enough walls together and you have a house :-D

Sorry if I’m flaunting my ignorance, but how is a wall that high NOT fall over?? Do the two foot rebar spikes really give it enough stability? Or am I missing something?
@RedEarthRanch2 жыл бұрын
That is a GREAT question! I found this out when I was standing on top of the wall and felt it wiggle. When a wall that size wiggles even a little it is a bit unnerving. Basically the weight of the wall keeps it in place until you can tie to another wall. We learned that with a wall this high we needed to keep turnbuckles on it after it is up to keep it from moving too much. Probably would take a lot to knock it down but we are in Tornado country so the turnbuckles are staying up until we can get some timbers in place.

Why not chamfer the corners? What was with that part you were breaking off that came out the corners?
@RedEarthRanch2 жыл бұрын
We are connecting a second wall after this one so we wanted to see how it would look without a chamfer. We ended up deciding that a chamfer would look better moving forward so we will be chamfering the corners moving forward.

I don’t think the insulation board being a little askew will make any difference to the insulation effect. I’m am just agog at the height of the wall and how beautiful it is.
@desironloic97212 жыл бұрын
Yeah… it actually does. It will create a cold bridge where water will condense and mold will grow.
@RedEarthRanch2 жыл бұрын
Hadn't thought about this but that seems like a real possibility. This is the garage so we will see once we seal it up. We'll keep this in mind when we are doing the house insulation. Thanks for the heads up
