its incredible that You can have such different speeds of flow on one track. You're so right, no one is doing like High Focus. Keep it up dude.

I don't think people give this song the love it deserves. Maybe because it's "different". I don't know. When Ed comes on the track, man … I think I've listened to his verse a hundred times since I made this video. Love it so much.
@tomblandeee3 жыл бұрын
Your absolutely right, I think anyway. Many UK genres especially Drum and bass use the Simon says line. Simon's always boss

Hello again mate, great to see your appreciation for the High Focus crew as usual. I'm going to keep pestering you until you do Jam Baxter - The Stump and/or For a Limited Time Only. Hope the move goes well and you settle into your new digs nice and easy. See you in the next comment section! Peace ✌️

@@bilalaziz8669 Damn right bro, hope he gives them a go. Although he probably has a lot going on right now moving house and all. The Stump even has subtitles, making it easier to realise the insanity. Peace.

The “Simon” is not a uk thing per say. We have a child hood game that is “simon sayssss jump Up and down” and we’d jump up and down. Wizzeee is my age and I write raps a lot so I assume he’s just found a metaphor that he really likes “Simon” metaphor. Clocked it a lot in a few of his songs.

Yes ... I know I called Ed Edward Scissorhands. What can I say? It rolls off the tongue. If you've got a couple extra minutes today and want to check out the dude responsible for the creation of this channel, follow the link to a video off his new album. I shot and edited the video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpDGZauvgJKCn5o

I always thought he was referring to Simon Cowell. He's basically a symbol for the hyper-commercialised radio-friendly pop-music industry and, by extension, pseudo-musicians who are just pop icons and don't write/produce/etc. any of their own music since it's done _for_ them (think 'X Factor' / Pop Idol finalists/winners and the like) eg with ghostwriters. AKA anyone can become a successful pop-musician regardless of talent as long as they "know Simon"
@liamuk6454 жыл бұрын
The first part of oceans verse is just his first verse off his fire in the booth. It's a sick verse but I don't like hearing people's fire in the booth verses on there album tracks

Is their production really unmatched though? Bone Thugs or MF Doom come to mind just off the top of my head as production heavy Hip Hop. I’m not saying it’s not good production I enjoyed it immensely, but to say they are completely in their own world? I dunno about that.
@samhill4874 жыл бұрын
Just different imo. Alchemist and Madlib are still top of the tree for me as a guy who's listened to UKHH all his life.
@etotheipi424 жыл бұрын
I’m just always skeptical of anything being completely new under the sun when it comes to hip hop. I remember thinking 1990s artists were soooo innovative until I delved into the 1980s. As Krs One said on his anti biting track robot: “This ain't a diss to nobody's art Cause Afrika Bambaataa really gave it a start You go back in the history of rap man And you'll see classic jams like Planet Rock and Pack Jam Go online, look up Kraftwerk Everything we doin is past work We already wore that hat, those pants and that shirt So do you man if that works!! But we really here to talk about all the copies Cause when it comes to hip-hop, we the orthodoxy Cats poorly copy, copy sloppy In that section, young people should not be! There used to be a time, when you were writing your rhyme You observed the rule of no bitin No imitatin, no hate and no fakin We started breakin, so we could STOP fightin Get enlightened - I battle you, you battle me The crowd judges the originality It's not about a salary It's all about describing the reality that's grabbin me accurately” I think this UK hip hop isn’t biting and it’s doing its own thing as true hip hop should, but like it clearly has influences from the past in the genre. I’d love to hear who the artists consider their main influences.

I guess what I was trying to say, was other than these UK cats, I haven't been introduced to much new music that comes close to matching the same level. Believe me, I know there are a lot of US artists out there that I have never heard, but that's because the industry is so backward right now.
