This was truly one of the greatest games of the last console generation. From beginning to heart-breaking end, it was an incredibly atmospheric, symbolic journey through a fascinating period of history, and nothing has truly surpassed it in terms of story, character, and atmosphere, at least to me. This song embodies all of that greatness, and I feel privileged for having heard it. Thank you so much for this brilliant piece of music, and for slightly lessening my dislike of country,

@theglasslionstreams51838 жыл бұрын
Arthas Menethil While I understand the joke, and why you made it.. Mods do nothing but increase the longevity for how long a game can be played. Companies like Bethesda, for example, are only as successful as they are BECAUSE of modding. I'm not quite sure why they have this phobia of PC gaming, maybe they're just terrified of the effort it would take to do it, or of the high standards that some of the PC market has? Who can tell. Also, nude mods are stupid and weird. I'm looking at you, Skyrim.
@HonorableAssassins8 жыл бұрын
+Arthas Menethil Companies like having exclusives because it makes a tighter more united fan base that will generally like the same things so there isnt a massive blowout over every decision they make..... And naughty dog has been sony exclusive since as long as ive seen any games from them ever. Jak and Daxter ring any bells? It's not gonna change. You will not get The last of us on xbox, unless they go the way of metal gear. But yeah. The more you expand the market, the more flammable it gets and the more you have to handle with care. That hurts creativity, so many companies prefer to play it safe.

This is one of the best games ever created. You play it and you start to love it. You experience all the emotions and relate to the main character of John Marston. He becomes like a family member. That's why the heart-breaking end had so much more impact. I felt like I lost a brother. There are no other games or in fact anything else out there that made me so emotional. He was a goddamn hero. He defected from his crime-ridden past to save his family's future. Unlike others, his mistakes didn't outlast him but died with him. He burnt all the monster inside him with each round inside his bedeviled past comrades. Sadly, those who sided with him betrayed him, like his gang. He wasn't abandoned like the last time but riddled with shots. It just goes to show that there aren't angels or devils. Just men who refuse to believe that they are bad and those who take it in. When an angel comes it is the "good" that finish him.
@onyxtay72467 жыл бұрын
+Ben Brown I like that notion. I've always looked at the good guys as just having a higher tolerance for bad things. "Demons run when a good man goes to war" and all that. The people who we see as heroic are bad people, but they don't like that, so they try to show the world that they're good, even if it's just a lie, and somewhere along the line the lie becomes the truth, and they still have flaws, but they are a hero.

What's amazing about this game is how well the setting and themes fit with the idea of a modern western. The deconstruction and de-glamorization of the Wild West and the so-called "romantic gunslinger". The idea that John Marston was more of a violent thug than a Robin Hood type person is something many modern Western movies explore. The dying of the Wild West is also something you would not expect to see in a video game. In all honest, this is why I prefer RDR to GTA though I do love both series. If this was a movie, it'd fit nicely beside The Unforgiven and Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.

To be fair, while I do think Red Dead is the better game, I did like GTA V's characters more. Micheal is a depressed middle aged man who is slowly going insane through the lack of excitement and adventure he wants. He wants to help his children become successful and have his wife by his side, but he was just never ready for the family life, and has to watch as his life crumbles around him. His son is an anti-social drug user, his daughter is a demanding, selfish attention whore, and their is no love behind his marriage. However despite his kleptomania, no matter who he kills or what he robs, he always has his family at heart. Franklin is a very good natured person and wants to do what is right, however he is constantly dragged into crimes by the people around him. He wants to be successful, but isn't due to him not wanting to let down his friends. Maybe if he had had a better standard of living, he could have turned out a better man. When he meets Micheal, he sees an opportunity to be what he always wanted. The problem is, he must abandon his hood to rise up. He is constantly struggling between his dream and the wants of others. *spoilers* Depending on the ending choice, Franklin will either turn his back on Lamar or get back with him.

No, it was the best game. RDR was buggy, and rough around the edges, but it was extremely well done. The writing, on its own, wasn't particularly impressive, but when combined with the setting and supreme atmosphere it was stunning how much it stood out from the likes of something as paltry as GTA. There are very few games where I can find entertainment in just looking at my character stand against a setting sun or on top of a hill and not get bored after a few seconds. RDR's immersion was just that great that I could not only do it, but I frequently went out of my way just to stand on cliffs and admire the scenery. It's Rockstar's best game of the generation, and one of the best sandboxes as well, right up there with Saints Row 4, Just Cause 2 and Skyrim. And yet it's still console exclusive. Fucking Rockstar.

VeryAngryPerson That's funny. I personally find all three of the leads in GTA V to be incredibly unlikable. On the other hand, John Marston is well written and well rounded. Although, I do appreciate the comedy that comes from the characters in GTA.

Well I guess they figured that the time and resources spent on making a good pc port wouldn't be covered by the estimated profits from it. I'd say it was just business.

I think this one is the best song you've ever published on KZbin. It has unique atmosphere, it sound so... realistic. I mean I felt like I almost was there and watch the storylife of John Marston and the whole world of RDR. Besides, these lyrics... are genious! They are better than 80% of nowadays music, really. Miracleofsound, you are great. Create more masterpieces like this one, please!

this song fell so deep into my soul that even many years later while watching something completely different and unrelated to RDR, cowboys or wild west in general, when a character dies heroic and tragic death, the last vesre instantly pops into my mind

One of my favorites out of your songs. Actually, out of all songs ever made, this is pretty high up there. Very glad you uploaded it.

I think the part with John returning with his family was great. The music and rainy weather flowed together very nicely, IMO. BTW, man you make some really entertaining music!
