U r soo right! SM tried to shift the trend of kpop to early 2000 sound, when all company have this trendy sound or 80's vibe, then SM back to their 2000 sound hehe, knezt love this.

There are two versions of the song, one with and one without the dance break. The official audio is without the dance break.

it’s actually about tragic love story between vampire and a mortal. they built up the whole story since teasers with mini drama things, it was a really proper teaser btw. and yes as you said they don’t do what people expect, even in familiar vampire concept it’s still different from people’s expectations

When you think you'll understand NCT more and their music, they'll be like nah man, you'll never know what happens next. Some people will get angry and confused when the things got out from their norm, but I appreciate people who trying to break those boundaries to bring people to think outside of the boxes. NCT in SM is the best sandbox for SM to play so far for this new concept and it reflects to their songs and aesthetics including FAVORITE. Kenzie the songwriter said she only wrote 'saranghae' lyrics two times in her life as a composer. This is the second one, so it sounds a bit heavy for NCT127 to take on this one, but they deliver this beautifully.

This is more like a 2nd gen boy groups sound like, which is rare these days. So a lot of older kpop fans feels nostalgic about this song. And the fact that Grammy award winning producer Darkchild co produced it, got me mind blown. Destiny's Child - Say My Name and Michael Jackson - You Rock My Word are some of my fav works of him.

well old kpop fans and korean fans in general loves this more bcs it feels nostalgic. it will not hits the new kpopers i get it bcs this is very old SM sounds with a lil bit neo sounds. and i am so happy for the 127 boys bcs they just want to sing and they loves this song so much too.
