thank you guys for your reaction to Hellevator. This was Stray Kids pre-debut song and mostly about their experiences during their training days. What most people don't know is in K-pop they have hundreds and hundreds of tryouts all over the world for new trainees. Once they are selected they live in dorms during their training days where they train for long hours. And even if they do make it into a entertainment company they still have to train some train for years. Bang Chan (leader of stray kids) trained for 7 years from the age of 13 years old. Not all of the trainees make it to debut. After training most have to endure a reality survival show and could be eliminated. If they wait till they are older some are considered to old at the age of 18-20. Stray Kids did have a survival show in 2017 and all 9 made it they were also up against another group for debut from YG entertainment who lost and had to wait 2-3 more years before they debuted. Some of those that idols are now in the Treasure k-pop group from YG entertainment. I watched No Mercy survival reality show that produced MonstaX and it was heart breaking to watch and see the emotions those young kids go through but they endure and are stronger now for it. Still hard to watch. And to see the passion and fight for their dreams in these young kids is amazing. Not sure if you reacted to District 9 yet but that is their debut m/v and it is not as dark but just as good. Stray Kids are amazing for their drops and lyrics. They are real and relatable lyrics that they have experienced. They are not like any other group. They are very unique. They care about what they sing about and are not just doing it to be a star. They really are true talented performers and love what they do.

They really did go through some shit, especially Bang Chan. It is widely known how difficult and soul crushing being a kpop trainee can be and Chan was a trainee for 8 fucking years. The shit he went through in order for Stray Kids to come into existence oh gosh, I don't think we'll ever truly know and this song was written before they debuted, he was genuinely on the precipice of having sacrificed his whole childhood for a dream (debuting) that he still wasn't sure was going to happen. Same with Han, the one who sang about wanting to be a singer, he took a big risk in order to pursue music and he didn't have a lot of support. Every member had to overcome something just to get to the point of being in the group together let alone to debut.

This is a predebut song was composed and produced by 3racha the producing team of stray kids( bangchan 97 liner,changbin 99 liner,han 00 liner ) during their survival show. Once you watch stray kids survival show you will learn how they came up with this song. Fully written by 3racha . District 9 is their debut song that came out 03.25.2018

Love your reactions. Stray kids are so deep in their lyrics but can have fun. I love all their songs. I think the fact they write their music makes a huge difference in the lyrics because that is their feelings. They are amazing artists and the sad part is they don’t get a lot of respect that they should be getting because they always get compared to another group or they are considered too loud.

“Life can’t be that bad for them” WELL… You won’t believe the struggles of trainees in Korean music industries who bet their entire youth since the early age of 11 or so to debut as artists. They’re initially compromising their entire school life, and consequently giving up on college, because they have to train for years before they are allowed to debut. On top of financial insecurities, what the society says, their own young age and no sleep or time for normal teenager things, they also walk on an EXTREMELY thorny path, where only 20% of all trainees are able to debut with barely 1% gaining any recognition at all. Their future is the definition of uncertain. They practically bet their entire life on this dream, and live through the consequences Life’s way more tough for them. These lyrics are a raw representation.

Here is simple translation of this song ~ *This is their pre-debut single “Hellevator” which was written, produced and choreographed by them as part of a mission on the survival show with the same name STRAY KIDS. The meaning was since they were already in hell, struggling and in pain but keeps on going by getting the elevator towards their dreams because they want to escape into a better future *H button = Heaven* Pretty much all the members can sing, rap and dance. #Hellevator #StrayKids
