The funniest thing is that this song is actually one of their more engaged one, it's socio-political commentary on the generational and economical divide in south korean society. All their political songs are always bops and they usually have fun dances (Bapsae, Spine Breaker, Am I Wrong...) If you want to get more into it, you need DKDKTV 's "Explained by a Korean" explanation video ^^

At the end of BTS' 2nd day concert in LA, Suga spoke about why there were no solo performances from them in their in-person concert, that all their cue guides, choreography, props etc. were all about the 7 of them together & purposely so that Army can focus on all 7 of them. It is consistent with their philosopy to stand by on all 7 of them. That was reassuring 😊

No matter what happens as far as military goes, whether they go all at once or a few at a time, Bangtan will have Army's support 100%, we'll probably go overboard tbh lol, to show them they have nothing to worry about, we'll be charting every album till they come back.

Military service can go from 18 months to 2 years, it's not exactly a short time... We don't really like to talk about it too much cause there is a lot of controversy and debate about idols being exempted or not, especially regarding BTS. Some athletes, musicians and dancers can be granted exemptions, but it doesn't apply to kpop idols as of now. Actually, some entertainment companies petitionned the government for a reform to permit exemptions for idols (Big Hit actually did not participate). Following this, a new law was put in place last year to allow the age of enlistment to go from 28 to 30 yo (int.age), provided the idols have received recommendations for cultural merit. As of now, those requirements only apply to BTS

Here's info that some still aren't aware of: ❤️JIMIN, at age 11-12 started studying, performing, & competing (winning every competition), in hip hop, popping (excelled), & street dancing, while attending the renowned Just Dance Academy in Busan where he's from! He was so good that an instructor even had the high tuition fee waived at one point! This was while also attending middle school, where he loved sports, being quite athletic, joined the football team, excellent at track, great at basketball, & billiards! Jimin also, all throughout his schooling, was known as a top scholar, achieving perfect scores, especially in math & science which just always came easy to him! Jimin was even class president for 9 yrs in a row! Jimin, all throughout his schooling, was also quite good in art class, as well as calligraphy. Jimin, then also took up contemporary dance. The media, after seeing a performance of Jimin's performing at a huge Busan Festival Event, called Jimin "The rising star of Busan"!! JIMIN also studied ballet & traditional Korean dance while attending Busan High School of the Arts. Jimin still went to Just Dance Academy to take hip hop classes whenever he could because his first love has always been hip hop, even though he was now majoring in contemporary! JIMIN even had an offer to dance overseas, but declined because he also wanted to become a singer since the 2nd grade, to the dismay of one of his dance instructors who said "The world of dance was going to lose a great artist"!! So Jimin then went and auditioned for BigHit Entertainment, (company BTS is signed with), being the very last member to join, being a trainee for only a few months (which is unheard of for most Kpop idols), as opposed to the 2-3 yrs of being a trainee the other members had! But Jimin was so good that he was assigned the official title of one of the two Main Dancers, as well as Lead Vocalist. Jimin was even assigned most of the high notes since the very beginning, because even without all that training in the beginning, he was that good, a natural born singer who, just like his dancing makes you feel every emotion and feeling he's trying to convey! JIMIN, also, for 8 yrs, since a quite young boy, trained in various forms (4), of martial arts: Taekwondo (Blackbelt), Hapkido, Kumdo (Korean form of Kendo), & Chinese martial arts. He even won a scholarship, the only student to do so, to study more extensively in China for awhile! All the martial arts training has given JIMIN his phenomenal inner core strength, as well as his amazing flexibility, which has enabled Jimin to achieve all those breathtakingly spectacular gravity defying dance moves! JIMIN has found a way to incorporate all his various dance disciplines, as well as his extensive training in martial arts into his unique, ever so special, outstandingly amazing dancing abilities!! JIMIN, has been called 'Stage Commander', known for his amazing, so mesmerizing stage presence. Each dance move is executed flawlessly, his extensions all the way to the fingertips, his lines so clean, his fluidity, his poise & elegance, his ever so graceful moves, but yet, sharp, quick & deliberate when required! He focuses on every detail! Known for his work ethics and being a perfectionist to a fault, spending hours in the practice room, will study every move, even focusing on hands to fingertips. Even his facial expressions, or the look in his eyes! Every single detail he focuses on. Jimin tends to take in the music and interprets all the emotion & feelings, whatever it's trying to convey through his body movements as well as his vocals. JIMIN has now won the prestigious titles for 3 yrs in a row, for both KING OF KPOP, as well as also winning BEST TOP #1 DANCER IN KPOP, also 3 yrs in a row!! Jimin is also referred to as "Rookie's Bible" because all rookie idols, try to emulate & study every move he makes, trying to learn from him! Aside from all that Jimin has won other countless award, broken many records. His 5 solos have broken charting records worldwide, as well as being top seller, plus most listened to. Also breaking records for being #1 branding marketing idol, every single month for now, 3 yrs, a feat never achieved before, and still ongoing! The term the "Jimin Effect" is now in the Urban Dictionary! So much more as well but will stop here.

A little fun fact about J-Hope hehe. In Japan, they have what they call “Hoseok Girls”. This usually happens when someone watches a BTS concert and gets bias wrecked tf out of them by J-Hope because when you get to see him perform live, there’s really something that pulls you to him like his energy and his aura and just everything really. So anyone who leaves with a J-Hope bias is called a Hoseok girl xD

I don't know how much you knew about Baepsae before going into this reaction but it is one of their more serious songs, it's a commentary on the high expections of their generation even though they were not afforded the same opportunities. It's a topic that can translate globally. The choreography, all the crotch grabs, hip thrusts and leg extentions, though they look goofy, are an interpretation of the lyrics.
@pyejammiesfanfic6403 жыл бұрын
The dancing reflects the words of this song. The short legs of the crowtits, (the Baepsae), the long legs of the storks. The hip thrusts which mean just what they look like. If you watch the live performances then Hobi, really gets into it with the hip thrusts and splits. As for military service, if they go separately then it could be more than four years before they’re back together. Jin would be 34 and they’re already finding dancing flat out hard. Then there’s the problem of Yoongi’s mental health. Being away from his beloved music and unable to produce would be such a strain for him. The members of SHINee found it hard even Minho who chose the marines. He was very tight lipped about it when he came back. We’re not hearing much from them now that Taemin is serving. I loved the way you signed off. Borahae, guys.

What a nice reaction! It's perfectly fine to question whatever you want, as long as there's respectful attitude. Personally, I don't think that they are going to disband ever because they WANT to be a team. As long as nothing big happens, I don't see it coming. About the dance... Personally, I am always a little taken aback when people critic, for example, Jin's dance skills. He might not be the best dancer in BTS, but I challenge everybody who complain about his performance to do better than him, to came from a complete lack of dancing background and to become so good to the point of being able to keep up with J-Hope or Jimin. But the way, if you'll ever watch the PTD concert clips you will see how actually far Jin and RM come with their dancing abilities.. I am so proud of them. Korean men must go to the military by the age of 28, but the BTS law postponed BTS' enlistment at 30 (but it's valid for every Korean men with outstanding merits). Nobody knows what's going to happen, really 😅

It's NOT for just 1 year. Full military service for an average person/non celebrity is between 21-36 months, depending on the unit you are assigned to/attached to, as well as, if you are active/non active service. Eg: my cousin who is attached to the navy has had to serve for 24 months (+ 1 month bmt-basic military training). However, there's a lot of controversies surrounding celebrity going into service due to the fact that there were known cases of celebrities trying to wriggle their way out of the service as well as how some were given less-strenuous services or extra leave days simply because they were celebrities. That's the reason why the topic is always sensitive regarding celebrities going into military service. That said, there seems to be a rise in the opinions from the general public that supports BTS's partial exemption from the service (eg: some have suggested for them to simply complete their bmt and be let go) because of their enormous contribution towards the country's economic and cultural front. Still, it is a sensitive topic and in all honestly, also a very political one. Most armys avoid talking about this because it is simply not our place to do so. We will just continue to support them. Like another army has pointed out, just because BTS is going into the military doesn't mean army is. We can still stream and chart regardless. I just wanted to clear some facts about the ms in SK.
@rivarosemontefalco50703 жыл бұрын
True. Quite funny those people want them to go because they really thought when BTS enlist another group will replace BTS in the game, when in fact BTS is the game changer both kpop industry and western industry. W/c odd bec as RM said, BTS success is 50% from army, 35% from them (5% each members and 15% from BH/Hybe. It's them who will enlist not the whole fandom. Their support and impact will continue as long as BTS continue to be in the group and we will comeback from military as a group. Whatever they choose, we as their fans will continue to support them.
@babecrash4653 жыл бұрын
@@rivarosemontefalco5070 Ikr. I feel that if their success is dependent on BTS's absence so much, they should really re-look into how they are supporting them in the first place. As for us, BTS has Army and Army has BTS. Enuf said.
@flyushkifly3 жыл бұрын
Sometimes I worry that they haven't quite grasped that they have broken out of the kpop mold which creates groups with an expiration date and low chance of comeback after military. I'm not questioning their intelligence, but they've been brought up in this culture and have become something else entirely. When they celebrated their 7th and 8th years because of the significance of making it that long, I thought to myself - Dudes, you will be playing to packed venues as long as there are ARMYs - which will be forever - and as long as you want to. They will change and grow and so will we, and new, loyal ARMY will find them all the time because their music and philosophy appeals to all ages, and they are truly wonderful humans.

Dancing is part jhopes DNA. Like singing is part of jungkook DNA, everything jhope does , he will be moving his body in a rhythmic way. Jhope is always dancing , no need for music for him to dance , like jk sings 8 hours a day , he choose singing over talking , when he jogs , he sings , when he showers , he sings , when he chills , he sings , he sings in company, he sings when he is by himself , singing is just who he is , dancing is for jhope . Rm is poetic , while he is on his bicycle , poetry is in his mind , he looks at a tree and creates a poem , just looking at the tree . Rm is always creating stories in his mind , then he puts it to paper . Yoongi writes about his emotions daily , how he feels about about big and small things . His mind is always busy so he writes his thoughts down and from those thoughts , he creates songs.

j-hope is probably the best dance freestyler you can find in kpop. Dancing is deep in his bones. It definitely is like second nature to him. There are a lot of compilations of his freestyle if you guys would like to react to it. As for his performance, being 'hoseoked' is a term armys came up with to describe someone being bias-wrecked by him at a concert because it happened so often. There is a general consensus that no one can leave a concert not mesmerised by his stage presence and charisma. Also Lowe (sorry if that's not how you spell your name), if you see this you gotta check out their Mic Drop SNL performance. j-hope goes OFF in that.

Nice reaction. I just wanted to add something about the dance itself as an interpretation of the song. Baepsae translates as a crowtit ie.small bird ( shorter legs ) and it is compared to the longer legged Stork in the saying, ' a crowtit cannot catch up to a stork'. This is because the playing field and conditions are not even or fair to start with. The song addresses this with respect to sociopolitical climate. In the dance you can see when BTS stretch out one leg and swerve to imitate the movement of the stork. The flapping of hands and lower squat steps reflect the crowtit ( the smallerbird). And the hip thrust, in my opinion, is an F*** you to the system. Very fun dance and choreo 😍

@@REDEMPTION46 Y'all's expressions where just too good! I'm loving this journey with you guys. I'm loving the talks and you guys taking your time with saying whatever is on your mind. And his questions as a person less familiar with BTS and their work are actually kinda perfect, bc we hear them so often, but you guys are able to answer and put it in to context and explain/interpret why it's not what everyone expects. BTS really is a paradigm shift - especially in the world of music but not only limited to that - in the way we think or are used to. They're breaking the preconceived ideas of what something or someone should be and removing limitations. They really ARE a phenomenon.

RM once said “JHope is like water when he dances” and that always stuck with me because he is so right. I LOVE how RM can express or communicate things in the best way and I think their language, Hangul, is very poetic in nature as well. This is why they should never be forced to sing in only English…..Also, this song is very meaningful and it highlights a critical issue of income inequality so please also look at the explained video for this song. BYE, 😁💜

Jhope is my bias but Jimin actually also trained early on in hip-hop dancing/pop n locking before he joined the group. He is actually the one doing a lot of the acrobatic moves in their dancing in early videos. He’s also done a lot of martial arts. Both him and Jhope have this natural movement where they make dancing look effortless. It’s amazing to see especially live.

Oh they have their specialities of course, because their backgrounds are different too but like you said before everyone brings something to the table and that is why BTS shines the brightest, I stopped making comparations between them because is a waste of time, but for the sake of fun I like how you all some times joke about it in a respectful way. About the other subject... I prefer not comment.

Baepsae[SilverSpoon] which also known as Crow Tit (An old korean saying elderly uses translating “If a crow tit tried walking, like a stork it will break it’s legs”). Basically a way of oppressing the young generation by calling them crow tits and the elderly storks, the young people shouldn’t overestimate themselves. It’s what the asian elderly use to hold younger generation from following their big dreams and making them have “normal” jobs. BTS often called themselves Crow Tits because even with their success they don’t see themselves as storks and they want us younger people to know that we’re not alone b/c they to were told not to follow their dreams! #Baepsae #BTS
