I think a huge problem with modern pvz2 international plants is that their sprites get stretched so much to the point they become extremely pixilated. It's especially obvious with sundew tangler and it looks horrendous. Either way, I really like your plant redesigns. I wouldn't mind seeing some more in the future!

Your redesigns are really fun! Only complaint might be about the visual designs of Chinese plants... I don't think I'm the only one who loves these sort of... ridiculous, unhinged-looking pictures, am I? Also, while his inspiration IS very cool, the fact that Bamboo Dummy doesn't do backflips in his plantfood instantly makes him inferior to Bambrook, no questions asked

All of these concepts are great, I especially enjoyed the whole redesign to bambrook since chard guard is one of my favorite plants to use. I only have two suggestions, the first would be to keep sundew tanggler at a very low damage rather than no damage, like 15 every half second, so it can ever so slightly help defeat the zombie it has ensnared and generate small ammounts of sun with the sunbean effect. Also less of a suggestion but the tomb tangler remodel feels a little off to me, and i think thats because it normally has a trapezoid like shape while yours is more rectangular, so if you were to widen its base a bit your design would be perfect in my eyes

i appreciate the feedback! the other reason i didn’t get sundew the ability to do damage is to avoid the (hypothetical) situation of a player thinking sundew sucks because it barely deals damage and produces less than 50 sun a zombie, whereas if they dealt no damage, player would read that attacking zombies produces sun and not attacking zombies doesn’t produce sun easier as for Tomb Tangler, i can list a bunch of reasons for why i settled on its design. the rectangular design was to make it closer to Grave Buster, tie it closer to a tree in design, and make it look like it would “fit” over a grave (as in, i thought og Tomb Tangler didn’t look like it was meant to be planted over graves at all)

@theoriginalalex that actually makes sense for sundew, I'd say it also keeps it more balanced in comparison to sun bean so it doesn't completely overshadow it (although most seedium plants do that anyway). Also I figured out my actual reason for finding tomb tangler odd, I wasn't watching the video very closely and I don't have the best eye sight so I thought it had pitch black eyes and was staring right at the screen and into my soul lol, after taking a closer look I saw it was looking towards the zombies and I like it alot more that way! Over all great video! I loved your "PvZ 2 with PvZ 1 plants" series, and this was just as good, I can't wait to see what's next!

I really like the redesigns! All of them look so interesting when compared to the original ones, plus, the inclusion of PvZ2C plants on PvZ2 International was superb! I also love the detail of using Exhibition Match from Rhythm Heaven for the music playing while showcasing Burda Batta (And the fact that the swings play when they should like in the game really tickles my brain). Overall an amazing video as always!

I really like the Pomagunner, honestly a great re-work but for some reason the smile of the original design really stands out to me because it shows the seedy interior, maybe Pomagunner's idle animation can do the seed-filled smile? Just speculation

The Chinese version is notorious to give plants that are literal garbage or so op that you don't need anything else, and I feel like that the latest seed packets plants in the International version are no different so giving them a little rework sounds like a great idea! 🌿

If I were to tweak these redesigns, I'd definitely give Bamboo Dummy the back leaf and face of Bambrook. Those are the two things I like about the original design. For Burda Batta, I'd make sure it looks like Batta is "looking at the audience", as it just feels right for the character. I can't tell if Batta is looking at Burda or the audience. I'd also make their plant food effect look similar to that powered up frame seen in the concept art. (21:20) I like the two seemingly seeing eye-to-eye in that situation. Both with the same look in their eyes.

the only redesign I didn’t really get was the one for tomb tangler, idk something about him just can’t be remade, also the mouth just doesn’t look right without the rock teeth. I mean for a modern arena plant it’s actually somewhat faithful to the pvz2 art style lmao, W vid tho

they were definitely the hardest one to redesign. i think my biggest problem with the original is how much it sticks out from every other plant in the game (although, that’s very subjective) and tackle how overdesigned it is for the role i redesigned it to have (which is a defensive staller that tangles graves). however, i wanted to incorporate aspects of its original design as there were very intentional decisions to it, but make it more plant-like. i also thought it’d be fun to reveal its “mouth” and “arms” for when its actually doing something, adding some allure to this already weird, unsettling plant. just wanted to share what i was thinking when redesigning it :) i’m still glad that you enjoyed the vid!

An idea i made, probably not super original, but its called "Black and Blue berries" its a melee defense plant that has a combat stance and a defense stance. While a zombie is not actively eating the plant it has higher DPS but while being eaten it goes into a defense stance lowering its DPS but increasing its defense. The entire idea also is based around a boxer, using blueberries as boxing gloves, it would be animated dodging and weaving as if prepping for a fight while idle. it wouldn't do well against the prospector zombies though as its bas defense is active from behind the plant and if its in the defense stance it cant defend two places at once.

This gives me an idea I have made a few zombie ideas and let’s see how you design those 1. A zombie which is like a fisherman zombie on land that can break its hook with enough damage 2. An anti-blast zombie that can withstand almost every instant but gets double the damage from normal attacks (x2 damage from a pea, and 0 damage from cherry bombs for example) 3. A zombie that can use magic to make new zombies (depending on the world) 4. A zombie that can switch lanes if a projectile almost hits them, the way to kill them are instant plants or plants to chill or freeze the zombies, disabling the ability temporarily 5. A zombie that takes up 3 lanes but has a very, VERY high amount of health. 6. A zombie with a larger range to eat and when dies gives a special effect to the 3x3 zombies in area Hopefully you see this Alex i spent a while making these

Bambrook enjoyer here! Will say that i totally agree, Bambrook is a really strangely designed plant that is barely useful beyond earlygame PvZ2c and even when it is able to be used has such a small niche that there's little point to picking it over other defensive options (unless you somehow have it levelled higher than your other walls). Still, he helped me a lot in my early days of PvZ2c and I enjoy the way he animates so I'll own up to liking him and his design a fair bit; simple but kinda cool. Regardless, I'm happy with your take on the fella and love the way you designed both an alternative to Chard Guard as well as a very visually distinct bamboo-based plant. He'd fit right into PvZ2c with no problem! Excellent stuff you've made.

If youbever do a sequel to this (I hope you do, this vid is great), here's some ideas for plants to redesign: Scaredy-shroom (obviously) Lotus root (goofy face and weird design) Seaflora (looks drunk) And some honorable mentions: Oak Archer (purely so that you can rename it to Balistoak) Teleportato (wth is this spongebob close-up lookin ahh design?) Noctarine (grossest plant ever) Blastberry, pyro, and gloom vines (weird)

I genuinely think all of these are way way better than their original versions. Tomb Tangler I do prefer the old design, but the new abilities are way cooler. Absolutely in love with your Bamboo Dummy design and your Burda Batta design.

I think that sundew and tomb tangler have good design. I would just change their animations and attacks to make them a little more interesting.
