My friend caught a red eye in amicalola. Never seen one there before

Well that's part of the Coosa River drainage so Redeye Bass are native. You'd probably see a lot more if the DNR didn't stock so many trout.

Nice fishing. I caught a redeye that long on my trip down there but it looked like it had a football in its stomach...The video of it will be out late this week or next week and i will let you know so you can look at it. I dont think its a hybrid but we will see.

Thanks! This was an upland stream in the Coosa River Drainage. I don't want to blow up anybody's favorite spot in the comments but if you shoot me an email ([e-mail]) I can recommend some areas. There're tons of great spots in Bama...

Are you using straight braid to your spinnerbait?

Yes that's 30 lb. Power Pro Spectra (Moss Green) from Walmart. Definitely overkill for Redeyes but good to have if/when you run into something bigger like Alabama Bass. I can also throw a big topwater with that setup for Striped Bass, Alabama Bass, etc... without having to bring a separate rod.
