That aspect ratio change is bizarre. It's like two people edited the film, the second one came in and enlarged it from the point they took over but didn't bother going back to do it for the rest of the film.

Godfrey Ho is a legend in the world of low budget schlock films. You get some buddies, some beers (well, more like A LOT of beers) and a few of his movies and I guarantee you your sides will be hurting bad before the evening is over.

I know Richard Harrison (the star) decently well and have been to his house and interviewed him a few times. The woman talking about Drunken Crab is his real life wife Maria Francesca… the name of his property is hence “Villa Francesca” in California (a real beautiful property in Malibu overlooking the ocean). He is open about his entire career EXCEPT for these movies, which he notes as the whole reason he quit acting.

The Cinema Snob introduced me to Godfrey Ho and Pierre Kirby almost 15 years ago at this point. Those movies are absolute gems of Hong Kong cinema. You did a FANTASTIC job with Ninja Terminator. Ah, Godfrey Ho! When I was a kid back in the 80's a friend of mine had a poster for one of his movies (Ninja in the Killing Fields) that he'd gotten from the local video rental store. Being obsessed with ninjas (it was the 80's after all) we were convinced that it must be the greatest movie of all time - It was called Ninja in the Killing fields, FFS! After much pestering his dad finally rented it for us and... yeah. I remember being utterly confused by it, completely unable to tell what was going on from scene to scene. I watched it again a few years ago and tbh it wasn't much less confusing than the first time (yes, it's another Frankenstein's monster of a movie). The last ten minutes are absolute gold though, and it's totally worth sitting through for that alone. Incidentally, Undefeatable, a film I recommended in a previous comment, is actually one of Ho's, and goes to show that when he was prepared to put in some effort he could actually make a genuinely competent B movie. Also, the guy in the blonde wig was Hwang Jang Lee, former Korean army combat instructor and genuine badass (watch out for him in No Retreat No Surrender 2). Sorry not sorry for another wall of text!

"Is this your Ninja star?" "No that's not my Ninja star. Mine had 12 points." "Oh, I guess I must have made a mistake...except what's in your right front pocket?" "There's nothing in my right front pocket. I'll show you. Wait a minute. There's something here..." "Is that your Ninja star? If so, the Ninja Empire will destroy us unless we destroy them first!" "All right, we're going to film the Harry at home scenes. We need props. What can you get from my son's room?" "I found this robot and a Garfield Phone." These Godfrey Ho films don't make a lick of sense, but when they plot is moving or guys are swinging swords they're a lot of fun.

Holeeeee shit. Amazing video - and that might be the best Redeye Reacts segment ever. Two observations: 1) When the ninjas steal the statue pieces and run down the stairs, that music is a track by Tangerine Dream from the 1981 soundtrack of Michael Mann's THIEF - so Godfrey doesn't just steal from his own movies lol. 2) That statue's face..... looks like we know where Blizzard got the inspiration for the look of the goblin race in World of Warcraft.

You took my advice! This director is a bottomless goldmine for bad schlock content! Ninja Dragon; another film starring Richard Harrison has AMAZING voice dubs....also has one of the best intro tracks ever. I think only Master of The Flying Guillotine has a better one (which is another movie you should do) because they use that same song from the intro that they pirated, slow it down to 1/4 speed, and use it as a theme that plays for the main villain...and it is AWESOME.
