@@christophermullins7163 It is indeed insane. But if you didn't buy it yet, and you're in that line of work for a while that mean you either have a 7950x or 13/14 gen{Hoping that thing is still breathing} With just a week to 15900k{285k}, and probably a month to the 9950x3d, I'd still rather wait. {Currently on a dying 13900f, and a secondary 5600x setup.., still waiting for that 9950x3d so I can both work and game.}

Take literal hardware. Compare against other literal hardware. Analyse the difference. Test them in real world. If the % difference is lower than when you compared the hardware by their specs. It's the software/OS/application who's bad/unoptimized/Killing your performance. And not your hardware being bad. And sometimes it's just the hardware being badly set. The best examples are the 9700X and the 7800XT. 9700X tuned (no extreme or hard OC) beat the 7800X3E in gaming. And crush it in productivity. 7800XT boost clock is 2430MHz And memory bandwidth is 624,128Gb/s Perfectly stable OC is ±2580-2680MHz (can be higher based on the model) Memory bandwidth stable is 654,084Gb/s. Outperforming a stock 4070 Super in raster. Beating world record overclocking 4070 in raster. And beating stock 4070 in ray tracing. For windows 11 23H2 to 24H2. When you have some game gaining +50% performance with an update. What do you call it. Bad CPU ? Or bad OS ? When you have a random guy making a FSR3.0 mod better looking than FSR3.0 official release on Cyberpunk. What do you call it ? Bad upscaler or stupid developer (same developer who wasn't even able to put the latest FSR neither the latest XeSS it's to say how dumb he/she or they were when they did it)

I don't know what's gonna end up faster but I wish, AMD could have convinced Sony to let them have an RDNA4 APU for laptop... AMD finally said UDNA which means more advanced chiplet structures... But anyway, with the free 20-30% increase with the new AGESA and Win11 24H2 9000X3D will be 40-60% faster than 5000X3D... OUCH...
@fredsorre6605
@fredsorre6605 2 күн бұрын
It can't be much of a win if the opponent is not putting up a fight Intel's first primary product using their version of Chiplets isn't very good I know their version is more complex and is better over all yada yada but this is like their Zen1 product good enough for a first release but still needs a Generation or two to before they could get the hang of making them. I still feel that Intel's design is not as good as its being made up to be and that most of the efficiency gains is cause of TSMC's better node and not because of Intel's chip design.

*Maybe this time AMD will beat Intel in ALL gaming titles. Not just 30% of them. Everyone thought the 7800X3D beat the 14700K in all games. Incredibly wrong assumption. In AAA titles, the 7800X3D only beat the 14700K in 30% of them and almost matched it in the other 70%.* *May the 9800X3D will beat the 14700K in 100% of AAA game titles.* *Not that I care. Putting a comment in bold cannot disguise a lie. You put your percentages the wrong way round. Nobody in their right mind thought the 14700K and the rest of that generation was any good. Even in the imaginary event that a 14700K was slightly faster in every game, it used 2-3x the amount of power. It was wildly inefficient.

A price cut for vanilla? Don't say that! I just bought a 9950X. Oh well. I have been procrastinating on installing it though. I do not enjoy building like I used to a couple of decades ago or so. It's easy enough, but what is making me drag my arse getting it done is reinstalling all my audio workstation software and plugins etc. That's a really big job. I have been thinking of trying to trick the current install into booting up without a full reinstall, but I expect it would cause issues (I could trick it into thinking it's an OS refresh, or I could do the generalize install Sysprep thing). Hopefully Bill Gates does not ask me for a new activation key. I'd have to visit the video sponsor for one - yet again.

it really depends on the size of the Gen 5. as far as loading times / boot times, dont bother comparing Gen 4 to 5, we're talking about tenths of a second here. if ur not some kind of video editor working with massive files, and often moving these files to different folders, there is no benefit to 1 over the other for regular users really if ur Gen 5 is smaller then 2TB use it for windows and programs / apps, and main game files on 980. Or if Gen 5 is bigger, do it the other way around.

@jondoe9596 It will matter with new generations of GPU. That's the only thing holding back CPUs at higher resolutions. CPU is not affected by resolution. It will perform same at any only thing why you see similar results at higher resolutions is that we don't have strong enough GPUs yet to get full potential of CPUs at higher resolutions. So yeah getting better CPU today means you'll get better results when new GPUs comes out in the near future to anyone willing to upgrade.

@@impuls60 There is lot more to it. REBAR/E Cores for AMD/Nvidia GPU +-5% making it zero zilch nada to have single task from P Cores to feed the GPU. CPU has very small impact and biggest difference you see if you run 4090 for 1080p that you would never do outside testing/comparison. But that said RAM speed has a good impact and CUDIMM up to 10000 speed and over will have a boost 10-15% compared. AMD don't support CUDIMM. Arrow Lake given specs from the slides 250W and memory speed 6500 is very under powered and rated. There are information already putting the extreme at 295W for the 285K. Also E Cores are overclockable by 1000MHz boosting this CPU to heights never seen before. Hence no Hyper-Threading Technology making it easier to pair GPU/CPU. Z890 with PCIe 5.0 and selected motherboards extra 8 pin power to give 150W boost/buffer via PCIe and direct unrestricted lane to CPU pairing "REBAR on steroids" if you wish to give unhindered pairing for GPU/CPU. Doesn't take much to see that Arrow Lake is tailor made for INTEL ARC architecture. APO 10-50% gain. 250-295W (285K) + 250-275W (Battlemage Xe2) = 500-570W of combined performance. Xe vs Xe2 is 50% gain. Predicted clock speed for Battlemage is 3000mhz if not more from alchemist 2400mhz (boost) to give a good lift also. This already looks better than 5080 (400W). Point is Arrow Lake, CUDIMM, PCIe 5.0 direct to CPU and Battlemage. It is obvious that INTEL hasn't revealed all because when you see the big picture as I put it there is huge potential.
