I had made a milk crate chair for a science project in grade school. This was suggested by my dad and I feel he saw this episode. Ironically, we did more than just stack them on top of each other, we used old plastic pipes as legs and the backing of the chair was made out of old rope and wood. Probably the comfiest chair out of all of them cause it wasn’t a stool

As a cook and a Canadian, I can appreciate this two-fold.

What's funny is now they make shelving units that look to have about the same size opening as milkcrates, they seem to be both fairly popular AND are considered the cool new modern look.

When I first moved out on my own, I had milk crate furniture. You really can't tell it it's an end table or a few crates if you put a white bed sheet on top of it.

I have milk crate furniture. I'm not joking, my father taught me the handiness of using milk crates instead of your run of the mill furniture. JCL RIP.

Probably good for the environment too. It's recycling instead of them ending up in a landfill. might be better to use zipties instead of duck tape tho.

Oddly enough tho this was a joke, it is very useful to people short on cash with large families. I myself had to resort to using crates as the bedframe under my bed and one of my sons beds because I just don't have the money in the budget. In the long run they are much sturdier than a regular bedframe.plus turned open side up they provide storage. i ave a sheet of wood btw my mattress and the crates tho.

I slept for a couple of years on a "bed" that consisted of milk crates, a piece of plywood, and a mattress I'd rescued from the curb. It was OK.

when I was in college I took a roll out mattress from an outdoor couch and just laid it on the floor, then I got a surplus hotel mattress from a friend in exchange for some work I helped with.

I agree with ya! I have a Rehrig (same company that makes milk crates) recycle crate bin thingy that I use for my laundry and I love it! It’s extremely heavy duty and is a good conversation piece.

I actually made a bed frame for a futon out of milk crates and zip ties when I was in college. It qorked really well till I got married. You could proba ly build a house out of them! P.s. I didnt steal them they was a huge pile bwhind an abandoned grocery store. I assume they would be expensive to manufacture.
