This song was playing in the car when friends & I got in an accident many years ago. A truck slammed our car on the passenger side where I was sitting. I'll never forget that surreal feeling during the moment of impact, whirling around in the car with glass breaking, bracing myself for the worst (my door was caved in). And then the car finally stops moving, and all I remember was that this song was still playing... and it was the most eerily - beautiful reminder that I was still alive......Long live RHCP

I find The Zephyr Song is one of the RHCP masterpieces. Although it was "a good song" when I first heard it 20 years ago (I was 23 and a soldier), only recently did I take the time to really listen to it with intention. It connects with me in an uncanny, mystical way -- and the musicality, the instrumentation are a galactic landscape. I think I just listened to it on repeat like 60 times. Like when I listen to Jimi, I almost felt like this song could have been written for me. Thank you for being. Thank the universe for the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

I always find that whenever I’m alone, I’ve always switched on RHCP. There’s just a magic in all of the bands songs - perhaps as a result of the embodiment that each of them are so different - that helps me feel I have a friend who will tell me all the crazy stories and maybe even see a bit of my life in it all. Let’s celebrate that we have such a good friend who tells us their ludicrous stories in such poetic ways, put so much emotion and meaning into each sentence, and most of all, makes us realise that, we are all deserving of that friendship and love.

I was going to become a father when my wife was pregnant with our first child. We had been wanting a baby for so long and we were so thrilled that we named our little man Zephyr less than two months in with the hope for him to be a beautiful, gentle person. I listened to this song on repeat like crazy during that time. Before month 3 started, we found out that my wife was going to miscarry. We lost our Zephyr before he could ever really start… we then suffered another miscarriage a few months later. After that miscarriage, we named the second baby Sunny. The pain has been a lot to deal with… all of the possibilities for Zephyr and Sunny that could never be. It’s been about 2 1/2 years since losing Zephyr. Thankfully, we have a beautiful, healthy 9-month-old girl and I was ready to come back and listen to this great song again. Fly away on, my Zephyr.

Eric Tanner He left first in 94 i think because he didn't like how famous the band was getting after BSSM and wanted to stay more underground. He didn't start religiously shooting up heroin until after he left (saw that in a documentary IIRC), so it wasn't really drug related at that point. Then after coming back for 3 more albums, I think he just decided he was done with all the fame (so personal reasons). You could see it in live concerts at the arenas and festivals that he looked like he didn't really want to be there at some points, and then in the smaller venues he seemed to enjoy himself a lot more. Just speculating though, I don't think he's ever gone into depth about why he left the second time

I was such a huge fan of the red hot chili peppers they were all I used to listen too. Well time went on and I still loved them. And I didn't listen to them for a year and like 3 months for some reason. I kinda did but not really. I was with this girl when I stopped listening to them and we were together for a year and 3 months as well. Well now we're broken up and all I have is the music I used to love so much. It just makes me happy it makes me forget everything and some memories come up but that's okay. I'm just glad I decided to listen to them again.

I’m day 8 detoxing from suboxone and I’m telling you, the chili peppers have gotten me through this. I grew up with them, I’ve always been a fan, but I’ve never obsessed over any band like I have these past 8 days of hell. I guess maybe my senses are coming back after nine years of being on this crap, maybe they’re triggering endorphins idk. I’ve tried listening to other music (there are plenty of RHCP songs but I’ve listened to and watched every single video and live on KZbin this past week) but no one else has helped me. Anyhow, I know it sounds stupid but I’m telling you this band has single handed gotten me through this.

This song is so beautiful and I love it, but at the same time it depresses me. In my opinion, this and the whole By The Way album in general is the Red Hot Chili Peppers at the pinnacle of their talents back when they had the golden lineup that could do no wrong. Undoubtedly my all-time favorite band.

@@JC_ORTIZ The one who clearly doesn't understand life is you. We all know we can't go back to the old days. There are people in the world that are going through or have gone through hellish trauma in their lives for the past decade, and reminiscing, yearning, or feeling nostalgia for their objectively happier youth is one of their few solaces in life. Yes it's obvious that we need to move forward as it's all we can do, but for future reference, don't make ignorant assumptions like that about people you know absolutely nothing about.
