Any info on the speed and weight that I need. Like for example in the video you are using a 4 once weight how fast can I go with that in order for my lure to stay down Tia.

I am a kayak angler and just received these, and the release floats, in the mail. look forward to trying them out this weekend. do you have any charts regarding trolling speed, weight used, etc..?? Your packaging says that 1 oz. @ 2mph = 10 ft. So, does that mean that 4 oz @ 2mph = 40 ft.???? I think you folks should invest some time in creating and posting charts that cover this info. Most trolling weights have a chart that goes with them to show different depths at certain speeds. I understand this is a different type of rig, but it should have a chart designed specific to it. As a kayak angler, I can not attain a certain and constant speed so knowing where the lure is at say 1 mph, than at 1.5mph and 2mph is critical. Both your products, the instant downrigger and release floats look to be great ideas and will try them this weekend. A chart to go with the instant downrigger would be an excellent addition and great selling point to that product!!!

So if I want to go 1 3/4 lbs deep I need a deep sea pole to hold it when I'm trolling for 1-2 lb trout?

I am a kayak angler, and will be picking up some of these for sure. Takes up much less room and looks like it would work great. How does it do at shedding seaweed and the like?

good idea just a little tricky with guageing depth you would need a reel with a counter, also I think maybe a regular release that faces the line rather than offset like the 2 rubber washers which would have a harder release but all good and thank you for your time

I've been running a large 3-way swivel with a 8oz ball on it for years to get to 40-50 feet. What is the advantage of this system over that?

Because it releases and the rig slides on the line. you can have a 30' leader of line if you want and still reel in right to the fish!! where I fish a longer leader is key to success!!!

great product. only issue is with braided line, it does not seem to have enough pressure to hold, any suggestions? works fine with flourcarbon line, just not with braided.

same here..i try to sandpaper on rubber..but it didn't help much...I think ..redirig should come up with different surface on the rubber stoper for braided line..

Hey guys, sorry for not getting back sooner. Just set the braided line closer to the center of the rubber grips. The closer to the center the harder it is to release. The closer to the edge of the grips the easier it is to release. The braided line just needs to go to the center more than mono does. Keep us posted.

I don't get it. This thing stays connected to your line while you're fighting a fish after the fish pulls it out of the stopper. How is this any different than just fishing with a weight 15 feet ahead of your lure?

You really need A line counter reel to get it down to the depth the fish are tracking, according to your Fish graph, otherwise its a big guessing game. I really like the product, the concept... But to really Enjoy it, you gotta use it as described, to get accurate , effective Results.

this doesn't tell you what depth you are at. if your marking fish at 60 feet, this doesn't just get you down to them. you might need to put it out and bring it back in to change your weights several times before you are at the proper depth. and then it all changes with how much line is out and what speed you are moving at. this is no downrigger, it's simply an in-line weight.

why not just use a normal led, it stays on the line the exact same. a normal down rigger is able to be wound up when the is on and some can also help gage the line that is out.

Tie some led too you're boat drain plug. Wow it's a downrigger! Take a wooden dowel and tape a reel to it. Wow it's a fishing pole!

Doesn't do what a downrigger does at all; does keep the weight off the line when released, and doesn't indicate depth...useless.

Dumb....all this is is a gimmick sliding weight. The whole point of a downrigger is to keep the weight off the main line.
