it is not mandatory to configure loopback address. Is it?

yeah, you are right, and it depends upon the requirement. . A loopback is a good choice since the loopback interface is always up unless someone specifically shuts it down.

@@selvajegannetworkingchanne3222 actually the preference order is router Id, Loop back address and then ip address
