Redlands Ashlyn Centre for Excellence in Volley ball was established in 2011, to promote the development of volleyball, that is a popular sport in Kerala. The centre has a hostel for 24 students, one indoor, one outdoor court and residences for the coaches, warden, cooks and guest rooms for visiting parents. Boys aged 13 and above are selected from all over Kerala and are trained and housed at the facility till they graduate from higher secondary school. The Redlands team has during the last 6 years been the top sub junior volleyball team, winning most of the school, district and state championships during this period.
Among our alumni we have contributed around 6 members to the national team camps and 260+ members to the state, district and university teams.
Some of the prominent stars during this period are Pauls Tomy, Muhammad Hanih Nishad, Ashin Shaji, Mathews Tomy, who were selected to the Indian Junior Volley ball national coaching camps. Jibin Job stands out as one who was recently selected to be a member of the Indian national team at the Senior Asian Volleyball Championship held in Thailand.
Other alumni include:
Hemanth Manoj and Sayanth Surendran - drafted to Hyderabad Blackhawks and Chennai Blitz respectively for the Prime Volleyball League.
Hemanth Manoj and Vishnu Manoj - both Senior National Champions,
Sayanth Surendran & Gokul MS - who played in SRM University team which went on to be the Inter University Champions,
Gokul Shaji & Devadas, representing SNGC College which went on to be the Calicut University champions,
Sagar Sathyan and Nyju Sebastian are members of the MG University team,
Joe Jophi was a member of the Karnataka University team,
Sivasankaran and Ananthakrishnan members of the Kerala University team are all alumni of Redlands Volleyball Academy.
Redlands Volleyball Centre for Excellence in Volleyball have the distinction of being the champions in almost all the competitions held in Kerala last year, winning around 6 championship trophies. The centre has in total contributed around 7 national players last year.
Redlands Volleyball Centre for Excellence in Volleyball imparts excellent coaching and education that includes daily tutoring in their school studies and iron clad discipline. The key figures to the success of the Centre are Senior coach Jophi George who was the Coach of Indian volleyball team for the Masters World Championship in Italy and a State player himself for many years, Mercy Jophi who has represented Indian National volley ball team for 6 years and also holds National level certificate as a coach, and also Roy AJ the warden who is responsible for enforcing discipline. Redlands Centre for Excellence in Volleyball has long been an outstanding model among all the other volleyball coaching centers in India. It is a shining example of how businesses can help sport to grow in the country.
