RedMagic 9 Pro Plus: Overheating Issues?

"This is what you're getting with the majority of phones" - when referring to the Rise mode, I'd wager that most phones don't even get to that level of performance and instead they're more similar to the Balanced mode here. I haven't had any heating issues when playing on Rise (mostly emulating PS2 and Switch, not so much Android games). One thing I noticed though is that when benchmarking the device in 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress Test, I was monitoring the CPU/GPU/BAT temps and they did get extremely high, we're talking around 85ºC CPU and 108ºC GPU (yikes! this is the one that worried me), as well as 52ºC on the battery (also not great for longevity). I did not put the phone in Diablo mode, but I'd be willing to bet that it does so automatically when it detects benchmarking apps, because those 108ºC on the GPU seem really high for anything other than Diablo mode. Needless to say, the phone was burning hot at that time lol, I could hold it for 5 seconds and then had to put it down.

And that's the same thing I was saying earlier. I had the Redmagic 6r, which did not have the fan but had the Snapdragon 888. in diablo mode 3DMark for 20mins it got "burning flesh" off hot. At like 96*c at all times and then would blink off, not even enough time to warn you before it would shut off. But then I got the Redmagic 7 Pro. And even in Diablo mode all day everyday and through the 3dMark it would not even get hot, and it has the Snapdragon 8 gen1. It has the best cooling system of all the Redmagic phones where on both sides of the chip they put top notch cooling. On the screen side they had the large vapor chamber with tons of paste and on the back side they had thermal pads and the the metal plate that went up and down the entire back of the phone. So that all the heat wasnt just going into the screen and a smaller backside fan area. The thing that we are saying could be done better about the 9 Pro. is that they now have this one piece design where the fan and fan chamber are one-piece, smaller and cover less area. Yes they put a larger vapor chamber on the screen side but all that does is put more heat into the screen. If they could just go back to puting either a heat sink or large metal alloy plate on the back they could rule the phone cooling scene again, instead of having phones that can't handle diablo mode.

@@leogil5933 I haven't emulated Switch lately, but when playing PS2 through AetherSX2, it gets somewhat hot (45ºC battery at most, around 60-70ºC CPU and usually 60ºC GPU). As kind of a rule, you can expect similar temperatures when emulating Switch, I did try Breath of the Wild when I made the first comment, but it did not seem to load into the game, it crashed right after starting a new game in the menu, I believe this was because of the lack of compatibility with the SD8 Gen3, I have no idea if this is fixed as of now, though. You can feel it if you hold the phone, and it will start burning you if you hold it for a few seconds (10s+), especially after 1hr (that's usually the peak of the temperature, it doesn't increase after that point). With that said, either PS2 or Switch or any emulator, you're most likely using a telescopic controller, in which case you wont come in direct contact with the phone, since you're holding the controller, so it shouldn't be a problem. Moreover, I use Moonlight extensively and I haven't had any problems, it doesn't get as hot because it's just streaming the game from my PC and not really having high CPU/GPU usage.

Mine doesn't overheat. I also mostly game on it with hdmi - usb-c to my tv. Side note I've had multiple controllers hooked up at the same time if anyone is wondering.

I emulated Yuzu on android snd even in Risen mode the phone reached over 100 C° and shut down after 10 minutes of gameplay.. I think it could even explode or catch fire 🔥 if playing in diablo mode. But enulators use cpu cores and push to max so i think software wise it could trash the phone or worse 🚑🚨

I got the new 9S Pro. Even at Eco, it's overheating when using mundane apps like whatsapp or twitter. I haven't even played games on it because how hot it gets.

Well the phone has to be a certain clock speed to run smoothly. Eco mode is you running your phone at budget specs. Also heat its normal when playing games. It will always be hot, but the phone will also freeze up because the demand will be too high for the lock screen.

Get a flydigi BX5 cooler. If anyone is having issues and it'll help big time.. but don't overclock the cooler because it can cause precipitation by the chip

It is rhe game, it is omptimized more for hogh end ios devices, not for android, my asus rog 7 and my redmagic 9 pro are overheating, better dont play this game, only when new update and optimized is done. U can trY farlight 84 on 120 fps onnhigh graphics and smoothness, it is amazing! 😍

Overheating depends on the games you play. Certain games can smoothly play on eco mode but can reach 43°C. Am taking example of Alien isolation at 60fps. Other games like weeckfest at max graphics 90fps can easily go near 50° C on balance mode.

Yeah heat is inevitable as we get closer and closer to console graphics. You won't be able to avoid heat in some games, it's not abnormal just adjust settings accordingly to cool it down.

My Redmagic 9 Pro gets hot after around 10 to 15 minutes of One Punch Man World gameplay and the fan starts spinning at full speed but the game runs buttery smooth and I noticed no throttling even with the heat (mostly the phone frames get hot)

They use Diablo and all it's possibilities to sell the phone but they should sell a cooler with it and telling you BEFORE you buy that you will need it. It's called being honest and saying it as it is!

It comes with a built in fan (I currently own 0 other phones with this feature). Also as the creator of this video clarified, this phone comes with a multitude of ways to manage heat & performance which is the real selling point of this phone. There is generally no reason to use diablo mode in most cases based on my experience so you really don't need a cooler with it unless you just simply can't help but run diablo mode. I play games like PUBG and Wuthering Waves, never needed Diablo. To my current understanding and please correct me if I'm wrong, but Diablo is to improve performance of the device (reduce stuttering, lag, etc). It has no impact on the graphics per say but more so impact by reducing the lag/stuttering that may be generated from setting the graphics & fps to max on the game's local setting.

Diablo mode isn't something you should have running all the time. You only run it when rise mode isn't working. There are 3 modes below diablo. Eco, balance, and rise.

The phone gives you multiple warnings about excessive heat. Locking the processor and not allowing fluctuation to deal with the heat is why it's so hot.

@@AM_1300 I mean as long as you understand that the creator of the device literally tells you if you want to use diablo mode you will need to be careful and that it's not an oversight on your reading/listening skills then yea it is facts and could be addressed in the later devices (As it's already addressed by the creators of the device by creating several cooling options for Red Magic devices specifically). However as creator of video said, high performance is synonymous with heat. This is why he compares performance and heat to PCs, the higher the performance on the PC, the more cooling options are built in to that PC. The phone isn't over heating without reason, its overheating because its rivaling performance of a PC. More energy = more heat. The real question is, what games are you playing on a mobile device that ACTUALLY requires you to use diablo mode? Unless you're emulating PS2 games or other devices on this phone, you really don't need diablo mode so it shouldn't be an issue for you. You should be able to run PUBG/Genshin/COD or w/e without Diablo mode at all at max settings.

I have the Sleet version and it doesnt overheat in 26c room even during heavy benchmarks like 3D mark 20min stress test it shows 97% stability, and 44celsius cpu temp with Rise mode, and still better stability than galaxy s24. I have 2 phones and actually my poco f3 gets hotter than redmagic 9 pro during benchmarks and gaming, but the f3 really stable too but the performance is almost the half of the redmagic...

I've had the RedMagic 9 pro for almost 2 months now, and it's been nothing but amazing, I only experienced the overheating issue 2 times on Rise mode during my almost 2 months use but they happened when the heat index in my country reached 42ºC / 108ºF, playing indoors with the AC on solves this small problem. I mostly play Mobile Legends, COD:M, and Farlight 86; and some Real Racing and Genshin Impact; which you might think require me to play on Rise mode but playing them on Balanced mode is no sweat for the phone given its high-end specs. I've only tried to play on Diablo mode just to test how better my gameplay experience is but I didn't really find the need for it, I'll probably use it if I'll play a high-stakes ranked match where I absolutely have to win.

The difference is a built in fan with Chinese phone bands or an attachable fan with dust and water proofing with global bands. I am speaking specifically of the 24 gigs of ram model.
