bro if u want to go to the recovery mode then u have to unlock bootloader. phones like redmi 2 or redmi 2 prime has unlocked bootloader while redmi note 3 comes with locked bootloader so u have to unlock bootloader in redmi note 3.

witout unlocking the bootloader you can't do nothing. You have to lose the warranty for solve this issue. I tried to solve it upragading from Miui7 to Miui8 but i can't get any solutuion. For now the only one is unlock the bootloader and flash a custom recovery or an oficial one. But i recomend a custom.

using adb and fastboot tools for windows u can issue the command "adb reboot bootloader" to enter fastboot and u will see the bunny mascot of xiaomi with fastboot written. altho im not sure how to enter recovery from fastboot mode u can exit from here using the command "fastboot reboot" which will load the rom and u will be taken back to ur home screen. if anyone figured out how to enter recovery from fastboot screen plzzzzzzzz share with the community.

Only solution 3rd party recovery options (EG - TWRP).... That works however then you cannot install OTA MIUI updates... You have to keep downloading the new update 1GB file and keep flashing it......Tedious Job... I have just forwarded a thread for a solution lets hope for the best......
