It's definitely a shared opinion that the body was scru. DPS, Fabvl, and Shwab came with this "cut the grass to see the snakes, then cut down the snakes" type feel with their latest songs. And we of nerdcore all love it here...

@@livkerstain3470 this is a bit of a read but... Nerd Control by Jamar Rose came out dissing other nerdcore artists. Scru reacted and basically said because he said people's names, they need to respond or he won't respect them. 954 mari and a host of other people made songs responding to it. One of the things 954 said was verbatim "scru face jean, please do not react to my songs, you are a con". Therefore, he doesn't react to it, gets mad. Tweets. A couple back and forths happened where scru angered literally the entire nerdcore community with some of his comments. The usual "you aren't going to beat me because I show my face and you're an anime goofy" nonsense scru tends to spew. After the back and forth diss tracks, silence. 954 just ignored scru and kept doing his thing. Come the new year, the people that were strangely silent during the nerd control beef...suddenly drop the first song of the year and seemingly have a few lines all pointing at someone who doesn't really do any nerdcore things. They are an npc making believe they are more important to nerdcore than they are. Of which many people have said for months now, scru falls into this category.

@@YourKurohime That's a solid take on this mess. I think, from listening to this involved for a few years now, that it's based on a difference of perspective. The Nerdcore artists, for the most part, have been steeped in mutual respect, lead from the front by Juggernauts like DPS, Rustage, Swab, GBJ to name a few, who have reached back and brought some amazing talent to the forefront, building on this culture of respect. There's been some spats, but overall Nerdcore seems to be more about lifting up great characters, moments, and virtues that showcase why anime is such a great artform. Scru, on the other hand, and I mean no disrespect, has a very different point of view. He has said on numerous occasions that Rap is, historically, a way for people in the inner city to settle differences without physical violence; and that this is the purpose for all Rap. Which is why he can be seen stirring the pot on Twitter. He seems to be confused or at least confounded that Nerdcore artists typically respect each other and their art and keep beef to a minimum. This violates his definition of what Rap is for, and yet these Nerdcore artists stand on even footage with more mainstream rappers. If they didn't, he would have dismissed them and wouldn't have stuck around. So he stirs the pot, hoping to see his vision of what Rap HAS to be come floating to the top. Which doesn't happen. Mostly. Which to Scru means that these amazing artists CAN'T be true rappers. The Top Tier of Nerdcore has done an excellent job of holding this culture of respect, of reaching back to push talent forward into the light, it would be a massive shame for Old Minded "OGs" like Scru to mess that up. I mean, nothing against Scru, I didn't grow up in hip-hop/ rap culture, so I've learned a lot from his reactions. But this difference of perspective needs to be reconciled, or Scru needs to move on to more mainstream genres.

He's always done nothing but elevate others in the field, always put out features for some of the really talented people we know today. Hell mans has bought equipment for other artist with his own money. He wants nothing but the best for his people, nothin but respect on his name.
