I’ve seen people just use the plant Velcro wrapped around the outside like normal, but each area within the tabs is a place for vines/roots to grow through.. and then you’d be able to slide the tabs out when you need to remove it from the pole in the future!

I think these poles are better! You put all of the plant inside, then fasten the strips. If you ever want to remove the plant or pop one on that is already well rooted, you don't damage any roots forcing them through tiny holes 😊 I make diy ones people nickname them 'lazy moss poles'

i got these poles and i pushed the clips in hole through the front of the flap and it was much easier and faster than going through the back and out the front!

I've seen another video where they mentioned just do the top mid and bottom flap (to get the basic shape) and then do the usual stuff, add moss, plant, and fasten the rest. idk the rationale, but from the looks of it, it should make removing from pole easier, maybe?

With that _P. camposportoanum_ at the end, maybe it’s just one long vine, or stunted in some way, because it wants a SLIGHTLY bigger pot. Not much bigger…And I know, moss poles sort of negate the need for a pot, over time. But just in my experience, my best & biggest climbing aroids, while they have been mounted on poles or planks (or even PVC pipes with no moss), they also were given ample rootball space in the pot. Idk, I’ve never really considered a pole, or any support structure, to be an extension of the pot, even though it is, I know. Still, that looks like a very small pot for such an impressively long vine! It might actually help if you increased the pot size by a few inches. Or chop in half and start the process over. A lot of times, taking cuttings or beheading long vines can freshen and reinvigorate the plants, and not just aroids, either. Succulent vines too. Wherever you cut, the plant obviously makes new shoots, so that can help a leggy plant get compact again.

I had no idea you put the plant inside with the 3.0 version. Glad I watched this video

The new pole seems best for plants that are already rooted in moss! Saves you from having to remove the moss or break roots by shoving them in the ones that close in the back. I think the flaps are meant to be like straps to latch around the stems. The way it makes a little t shape makes me think that’s where a node would go.

Not a fan of the new poles; design flaw…I’ll stick to the old faithful ones. Hope they both thrive on their poles. Thanks for sharing Melissa!

Thank you! Happy I could share my thoughts on them! I probably should have asked them how to use it first before I filmed this haha. I think they use less plastic but I still prefer the older version. I feel like having to clip each flap over the vine will be too much extra work as it grows.

Just chopped my and extended my marble queen+jade pothos vines onto a new pole. Sorry you were stressed with that Thiccly. On the bright side, it made my project seem so smooth and easy. 😎 I do see that pole could have advantages in certain situations. If I ever change my Raphi pole that I keep printing new sections for, that pole would be awesome.

I would never put a valued plant vine inside a plastic moss pole after having a midsection of vine rot that was barely touching a diy moss pole made with coated wire.

I had the exact same thought process as you when you tried to figure out the concept of the 3.0 pole haha, it didn't make sense for me too and seemed like wayy to much work 😅 I guess it's great for single vines but I think I like the 2.0 concept better

I’ve seen other people out soil in the bottom, but why do you do it? I’ve often wondered
@plantsbymelissa
@plantsbymelissa Жыл бұрын
Just to fill in the space as if the pole wasn't there. You don't want moss in the soil part or it can retain too much moisture so you fill the bottom part of the pole with soil up to the pot level :)

I don't know if I could do all that with a moss pole. I like for mine to just hang though so I haven't ever tried a moss pole. I do have a monstera deliciosa that is sitting on my desk and growing like crazy and I know it will need something one day.

Thank you! My leaves tend to get stuck a lot so I’m thinking they prefer higher humidity/water even in my space. I like the bushy look so the longer stems and petioles aren’t my favorite with how it grew for me.
