I don't think YG would ever regret wasting bp potential. The agency goal is to earn from bp comebacks, they don't care about the girls discography since the girl crush badass concept and the teddy formula are bringing in new potential customers every cb. At this point If the girls re-sign with YG I will start to question what they really want. If the girls are okay with the way YG is treating and promoting them then I'm not sure bp really want artistic freedom, more comebacks etc. Maybe it's only what blinks want, not bp.

The thing is, it’s not the music that’s actually making them money, it’s primarily their role as influencers now. I think that’s why YG wants to debut a new girl group probably with a different target demo that also isn’t limited to just working with Teddy. There is only so much artistic freedom BP can have or even be given as concepts and styles since it could interfere with the self-insert fantasy that YG and the girls are banking on. I imagine they will renew their contracts, but music releases will remain limited and more focused on the West with a potential US debut for Rosé. The only way I could see them NOT renewing with YG is if they entirely transfer over to a US/global record label. But I have a feeling YG is going to push for them to renew their contracts early, probably after the release of the full album or their tour for it, since if YG has no guarantee of renewal at that point, touring for any future releases would be an impossibility due to the time constraints of their contract.

K- potato My theory is that the reason why YGE is giving them and blinks so much content this year is that it’ll give the public false hope that next year/ future comebacks will also have the same amount of even more content. I’m assuming now that they’ve seemed to be treated right (more so than before) the fans are hoping for more and when the content drought comes, the fans will back YGE up with the “it takes time to produce amazing content” bs I hear a lot. (It’s a little hard to explain but I hope you get the gist of it) (and I’m not saying this as any ill intent for the girls or fans, it just seems like the type of stuff YGE would pull) I fear YGE will pull the deprivation method throughout their career but the wait is longer as each comebacks arrives. Edit: On another note, I like how the video handled BP’s management in her ideal world. Since BlackPink is more marketed towards the West (nothing really shameful about that) I’d like their discography to have both English to appeal to their foreign fans but also Korean songs that will appeal to their Korean audience, kinda like they’re the bridge between Western Pop and K-pop (in a way). That’d be such a cool concept for the girls, it’ll make them stand out from other girl groups and they’d be a great group to transition from Western Pop to Kpop more smoothly and comfortably.

This video is everything!! I completely understood your vision and I think your song choices were amazingly accurate. Though I did have one problem, I think this definitely should shame yg for his horrible management, the girls deserved everything you suggested :(. and if I could add a b-side to each solo title track I'd add: Jennie- Boss B*tch by Doja Cat. I'm so deprived for jennie actually rapping, this song matches her vibe and she'd own the stage do hard. Rosé- School Friends by Now, Now. I think she barely gets to showcase her alternative rock side in blackpink so I wish she could perform this song with her guitar:(. Jisoo- Video Games by Lana Del Rey. The song will show her softer and more vulnerable side while her vocals shine through. Lisa- Bad Girls by M.I.A.. I can't stress enough how perfectly this fits her it almost hurts me.

i disagree, i feel like them having one comeback a year is a marketing strategy, look: blinks are starving, so whenever yge drops a teaser, they go CRAZY. blink is such a big fandom, and they're really loud, so everyone that uses social media notices that blackpink will release a song, and it was so hyped up that they would probably check them out. i swear you that no one gain fans during comebacks as much as blackpink does, because blinks are desesperate and they hype them up a loooooooot.
