Just wanna make a small correction: Altought we use consumption to represent social status/class, and in that sense we fetishize product/consumerism that is not the idea that Marx was talking about... The Commodity fetishism according to Marx is the idea that when commercial exchanges happen the social relations (class struggle) that produced that exchange are hidden: When we purchase a product we only see it as a change of money for the product and not the allieanation on how that product reached us - in other words we "think" that things just appear on the shelves when we we pay for them and not trought the processes of exploitation.

i'm committing the ultimate sin of commenting partially through the video but that seems like a slight misrepresentation of the radfem position on gender performativity, given that it's basis is in biological determinism and serves to reinforce not just reductive and essentialist notions of gender but also sex, especially by linking the two. lamenting the transition of trans men because it can often result in them being unable to carry children or breastfeed seems like a truer resurrection of 1950s housewifedom than what is effectively communicating in shorthand.
