Have had a 3 for nearly four years now and I can honestly say it’s the best car I’ve ever owned. A shame you drove the automatic because you missed out on the great manual gearbox option. @@drsrsv8884 depends on your driving style and when you change gears, potentially yes, most manuals do better on gas due to being able to idle while going downhills, even then the mpg is generally negligible, but manual does give you more freedom as far as passing other cars without waiting for the transmission to kick down to passing gear

I have the 2014 Mazda 3 hatchback with the highest trim level and all of the options (US version). I am very happy with the car. With the 2.5 L engine, hitting the "Sport" button and manually shifting the automatic takes it to another level. The steering feel is amazing as well. It looks cool and can go fast when you need fast. What is a mind blower is that they packed all of this BMW level luxury into a 3002 pound car. It's a four door car that weighs in like a two door stripped down sports car from the '90s. Not much heavier than the 1993 RX7 but loads more stuff inside.

The Steering precision and feel on this car is amazing, there's great feedback for sporty driving, you really get to know how much traction you got left, what the wheels are doing, you get to feel the road surface and imperections, all this despite it being an electrically assited steering, which also proves soft and comfortable for everyday commute. Sometimes even premium brands like mercedes and audi fail to nail the steering. Also, the stock exhaust note is good, especially when paddle-shiftin at 6.5K RPM or downshifting into a corner, or downshifting into full throttle to overtake. Also, since it is not that high powered, you really get to use all the power and grip by hitting full throttle with no wheel spin nor traction loss. The brakes have not let me down either. Finally, very reliable, fun, and good looking car. Quality stuff from the Japanese.

It’s been a really reliable, super fun car and I’m in love with it, even a year later. Definitely going to get some aftermarket wheels at some point though. For those curious, gas mileage on mine tends to fluctuate and my car seems a little moody, but city I tend to average about 28 miles per gallon, and highway it can be anywhere from 34 to 41 miles per gallon depending on all sorts of things 😂 when my tank is down to a quarter remaining I usually fill it, and it usually takes about 8-9 gallons. Most I’ve gotten on a tank was 332 miles all on the highway. So there’s your in depth real world fuel economy 😂 base model sound system is pretty good too. Super solid car

I drove a face lift version of one for work every now and then and it had been absotutley abused; destroyed interior, mismatched rims and the exterior had dents and scratches all over. The front bumper was constantly sagging because some employees don’t care/understand ground clearence to kerbs… It took me a while to get used to the very low sporty seat placement. But the enjoyable steering coupled with firm suspension and a smooth manual gear shifter made it an overall good driving experience. Aside from all that the mechanical problems that I was aware of was the battery constantly dying (requiring a push start) and an oil leak onto the manifold I believe. I also needed a new clutch at some point but I would put that down to the other users of it not having much mechanical sympothy. Overall I would’ve enjoyed it more if it was in any better condition and I agree with video. Good car

The motors are not good and they fail often. The radio antena, or the roof fin can get loose, the nut that's holding it to the roof tends to unscrew just enough to let the water in the fin when it's raining and interfere with the radio signal. As son as it dries it's all good. The fix is really simple, google has the answers.

I can still remember the first time I needed to dodge some minor debris on the highway, because the car made quicker and sharper movements than I was expecting... but even so, the car did not lean or feel unstable at all. I needed to get an automatic for the commuting and for my wife, maybe not ideal, but it's like the everything car: practical and fun and versatile.

I've fallen in love with Izumi, my Soul Red '14 Mazda 3. Just a perfect large hatchback. All the boot space for a few cricket bags, all the cabin room for the cricketers as well. Ride and handling: simply sublime and there's enough guts to be enthusiastic with the right foot whichever engine you pick. Road noise is probably the worst aspect of the car, but it's not absolutely appalling. The paintwork is thin and scratches easily, so be as careful as possible to minimise stone chips. Honestly though, it's worth the price of admission alone when you see the beautiful design, in its perfect soul red paint in good sunlight after a nice clean. Like all cars, look after it, don't rag all the time, regular services, and check tyre pressures and fluids every now and again and top up/replace if needs be. Do that, and it'll run for a lot longer than you expect
@big0bad0brad11 ай бұрын
The crazy thing to me, is I'm in Wisconsin and although the paint is chipping pretty badly on the roof, rust really isn't taking hold. It seems to stay very surface. Similar on the underbody - you can see rust but it's like it starts and stops. I think they're using some alloy that juuuust barely stops it from eating the car, or it's so slow that it won't be a limiting lifetime factor.

Thank you for your honest reviews. Most YT car reviews are either about brand new cars, which the average person can't afford, or they seem to be completely biased. These days with everything getting overpriced, used cars and honest reviews like this are what people need. I also like that you include cars that can be bought here in Europe (Norway). Keep up the good work!

I've been really impressed with my 2010 mazda 3 bought it at 100,000 miles for 4500$ because my previous car broke and I've only had to do minor repairs to it. I just hit 150,000 miles and it's still running strong

I got a 2008 Mazda 3 and love driving it. It had 104,xxx miles when I bought it almost 4 years ago and today has 151,xxx. My a/c no longer works, will cost a grand to get it fixed but I decided to rough it in the heat because I figured if I'm going to do a thousand dollar car repair it's going to go on something more serious than keeping me cool and it has. It just cost me $1,400 for front brakes, shocks, and a boot. My 6 disc CD changer player has also quit working but I haven't looked into the cost of a new one because my radio still works and I imagine that's a costly fix too and I can do without it. One of my low beam headlight bulbs went out and that will be a $200 replacement because the bulb is expensive so I drive at night with my brights on so both side light up. And the brights really aren't that bright because no one flashes at me to turn them off. $200 bucks for just one bulb is insane but I probably will get a new one eventually. But other than those things, I just keep up with oil changes and it runs great.

@@amukhb8608 Hey my CD player started working again on its own after not working for many months! I have the grand touring model so I think that's why the extra cost. The reason it's a grand for the a/c fix is because it needs a new compressor and those are very expensive. Yep, that retrofit will give you both AA and CarPlay. ~150 USD if you buy the legit parts and do it yourself or 300+ USD installed at the dealer. The free hack, which I've done on my ND Miata, will only give you AA and does not always work correctly. I love the looks of the Mazda3 in any color and from any angle. I wanted to buy one years ago, but it just wasn't fun during the test drive - mostly due to the automatic transmission and Mazda's desire to transition from zoom-zoom to upscale. I kept my Protege5 with a manual transmission as it's heaps of fun. As is the Miata, of course!

Love your videos! I watched the VW Tiguan video before this one, you’ve found a BIG fan. Love it. One small note though, with regards to the factory recall for the tailgate struts, it only concerns 2009-2013 Mazda 3’s (GH 6’s (hatch and wagon), GJ 6’s (wagon only), DK CX-3’s (early ones, I.e. 2015/2016) and KE Series 1 & 2 CX-5’s are also affected). The model code for the Mazda 3 affected is BL, this particular vehicle you’re reviewing is a BM, and the facelift is known as the BN. I used to work for Mazda, not trying to be a dick 😂

Just bought one, the power curve and how the transmission is geared is amazing. The car also handles incredibly well, it does need some improvements because it has a good amount of body roll, but this can be fixed with cheap bolt-ons and. The style can also easily be improved with some ebay browsing also. Cant argue. Just dont go looking for power add-ons. This car is meant for the turn not the straight.

I drive a manual like a dumbass rn so its not assss gas efficient but still decently efficient. The hatch also fits quite a lot for being a small little car but Im not personally not sure about the sedan. Ive never had any engine or transmission issues what so ever owning one and for an economy car its pretty nimble, at least the North America 2.5L version. The touring, I believe also comes with really nice feeling imitation leather and a decently luxurious interior for its price.

I have had my 3 for nearly 7 years, and have decided to keep it for another couple of years, until I can get a used electric car at a decent price. I have never before owned a car for this length of time, and the reasons why I'm happy to do so are: (1) the 2.2 diesel engine is a smooth, torquey gem - what a pity that Mazda no longer put it in the 3; (2) the manual gearbox is so slick and fun to use; (3) the power, steering and road holding make the driving experience feel sporty, yet it's an economical car to run; (4) it still looks better than other cars in its class. The few problems I've had with it surfaced after about 5 years: (1) the touch screen started making false commands, which I understand to be a common problem in 3s built around 2014-2017. I disabled it myself following various KZbin videos, and in any case I hardly ever used the touch screen, preferring the captain's wheel. (2) the engine coked up and needed a complete overhaul after about 6 years - my most expensive outlay (900 UKL), but it's going strong now at around 80,000 miles. (3) the sound system amplifier causes a buzzing on bass notes - I'll probably get it replaced but can cope with that at the moment. I agree that excessive road noise is a fault, which Mazda corrected with extra sound insulation in the new version: If I regularly drove a lot of highway miles I would prefer a quieter car, but it's not an issue for the mainly B road driving which I do. I would say it's the best value car I have owned in around 40 years of car ownership.
