I have a 2011 J10 2 ltr petrol with cvt transmission. I bought it at 60 thousand km and now has 160 thousand km on the clock. It has been a great vehicle and economical to run. No issues with body panels or interior. I have replaced both rear shocks and cv boot seals. Also the clock spring needed replacing at 140 thou km as the airbag warning light stayed on and the fault was traced to the clock spring in the steering wheel . It gets a regular oil sevice every 10,000km. Uses no oil between changes. Its important to replace the cvt fluid as scheduled at 90,000km intervals. When I update vehicles I will get another one.

I've had 4 of these bought new in 2010 and 2011 and the only common fault you mentioned was the bit coming off the back boot. I bought replacement bits to attach it for a few dollars online and repaired two of them after they were 9 years old. You say there are better options, but what?

I loved my 2 dualis’s. Loved the top view reverse camera and how quiet the road noise was - couldn’t hear much from outside at all. It was a little sluggish uphill and in one of them the tail handle was starting to come off. Had them both for 4 yrs or so.

Would you consider windscreens leaking, door rubbers falling off, trim pieces falling off, boot regulators failing, gauge clusters failing, and CVT transmissions failing catastrophically on 15 year old cars as normal wear and tear? If yes, you need to buy better cars. I've had none of these problems on my old 2001 Ford Mondeo. And I traded that in perfectly functional in early 2024 (At age 23!).

Weird that you have so many complaints. I have owned two European spec Qashqais, a 2007 diesel 1.5 manual and I currently still drive a 2013 petrol automatic 1.6. I have had zero problems with either, everything is solid and in fantastic condition, I have never had any engine or other issues with it. Where are the Australian versions built ? I do agree that the CVT gearbox is not the most fun to drive but if you are a calm driver you should be ok.

Only normal wear and tear replacements and the seats and infotainment is perfect I bought new maps and updated myself. All service since after warrant done by me it is flawless. Honestly I feel these jokers got money to badmouth a car sold in 3 million produced and I have driven the newer ones also they are amazing. You cannot compare 10 year old car model with new releases. I have one. 2011 Qashqai 1.6. Only one real issue with it is that my wife crashed it two times already. Is it boring? Yes. Is 117BHP engine weak also yes. It's however quite non-problematic car with cheap parts (except for lamps, but that's normal) and quite cheap to maintain. We use it quite heavily (at least 30k km/year) since we got it 3 years ago, and we actually like it.

my nissab 1.6 diesel 130 hp 320 newton from 2012 has driven over 200,000 km without major repairs 17-18 km per liter of diesel. It has been abused with many short trips > 10 km on salty roads and humid and changing climate - 25 to +35 degrees Celsius. It is still presentable with no visible rust or discoloration. Wear parts replaced: 2 wheel bearings 1 bearing ball and all brake pads. due to the driving style, the egr has also been changed. Spare parts for this car are cheap in Europe. for me it has been a relatively cheap car to buy and own. It's not perfect, but ok. Denmark

This presenter is a giant snub, this car at least the European variants are well built, safe and reliable. This is self evident by they fact that nissan has sold millions of j10 qashqai. The presenter perhaps expected a rolls Royce quality in a cheap family mini suv. Nissan used a genuine leather on the seats but he doesn't want to believe his eyes, His demeanour, language and vomit gesture is terrible
@ReDriven
@ReDriven 3 жыл бұрын
Wow, I'm guessing you won't be starting my fan club anytime soon. We can't comment on the Euro versions as, well we're not in Europe, but as far as the versions we have here, there are countless reports and articles easily available to read online reporting all of the issues mentioned in the video. I should mention, we did hours and hours of research, read countless consumer satisfaction reports and reached out to various mechanics and Nissan technicians to gather the information for the video, and what you watched was the culmination of all that research, far from just my opinion. Nissan did sell millions of these things but a product being popular when new has zero correlation to its longevity and reliability after years of use and thousands of kilometres travelled. I didn't for a second expect a $10,000 Nissan to feel anything like a $1mil Rolls Royce. However, I hoped it would feel at least comparable to this cars competition from the likes of Toyota, Subaru, Kia, Hyundai, Mazda etc etc. If that is genuine leather, it's far from a good quality leather and feels more like genuine vinyl. As far as my demeanour, language and vomit gesture goes, you're entitled to your opinion but feel free to work your butt off for zero money to create something like what we've created with ReDriven, spend the hundreds of hours researching, writing, filming and editing the videos and then post them on KZbin so I can eloquently let you know what I think of you. - AK

Great comprehensive review, but the blame on Renault is just uncalled for. Renault doesn't use CVTs and that's the biggest thing that goes wrong - it's all Nissan's design and choice that went into it, through their subsidiary Jatco. Really wasn't necessary to mention Renault. I've found their models last long, and that corresponds to them placing halfway versus Nissan's near last place in the 2021 WhatCar reliability survey. Again - of Nissan's own making. I believe that you completely glossed over the very unique proposition the +2 offers in being a compact "7 seater" that has a large boot as a 5 seater, and 2 extra seats when really needed. There's NOTHING like it, nothing when it was new either. The engine paired with CVT is shit though, and the whiny drone it made going uphill tells me it may be headed for failure. Also a bit odd that you lumped the Megane and Clio together with the 370Z. You're falling for common misconceptions thinking Renault and Nissan are conjoined at the hip when it comes to actually producing each of their own model lines.

The 1.6 dci is a great engine but has a couple of issues. For one, because of the tight fit in the Qashqai engine bay you basically need to remove the engine to replace the water pump. The EGR valve gets clogged and can be a pain to replace (though I did it myself with no problems in about half an hour). The exhaust valve flap - also on the 1.5 dci - often seizes up and needs to be replaced, by cutting the old one out of the exhaust pipe. And the timing chain is not lifetime but has a replacement interval of 300,000 km, and is a pain to replace because Nissan put the lock hole behind the starter motor, thus requiring the removal of the front of the car (it's a lot easier to replace if you trust your luck and don't do this step). The turbo is hard to access if it goes bad, but on the plus side the glow plugs are simple to replace (keeping in mind the usual caveats) as they are all on the front of the engine.

I used to be a big nissan fan. I bought a 2.00 liter visia in 2008(south africa). I used tape on all door latches to stop rattles. Trunk boot latch broke as mentioned. Lined all door panels with glue gun to stop rattles. Leather of left hand passenger seat failed exactly the same way. Black matt finnish on center console statted to bubble after 3 years. Leather on stearing weel very thin. Started peeling after 3 years. Head liner had to be replaced after two years, not due to sagging, but because it was popping and crackling when driving. Mechanical, the engine mount betwren engine and gearbox(i think) had to be replaced every 30k. After about 20k km, car will sart to shudder till you replace the engine mountings. Abs on this car is horrible. In the few cases that you brake hard enough to engage abs, the car shudders rough. Esp is horrible. It will engage if you drive over reflector on a road, causeing the while car to pull violently in one direction. Never had problems with engine itself, gearbox or suspensions. The shocks did start leaking at 80K. Center conole was as loose as in the clip. Door finnish or cover felt like paper.

I am struggling to understand how there are so many faults with this car. I am an owner of a 1.6 Petrol 2011 model and the car does not make noises, absorbs road anomalies gracefully, i have no paint chip issues or damages to the plastic and the seats are comfortable for my height both front and rear (i am 1.83 m). Road noise is minimum, and there is no wind noise when i travel. In fact i travel at 140 km/h in a very relaxed manner and the engine does not produce the noise that my megane coupe does (14 16V 2001). The only part i can agree with you is that its acceleration is not instant it takes a while and only when it builds on RPM ( > 3000) it shows its power (the Megane in this section shines: it pulls up instantly at the moment you press the pedal). Finally my interior does not have failing bits and no plastic is moving back and forth. I suspect that the owner of the car you tested was not very careful, maybe she was abusing it...

wow, I've had very few of those complaints for the majority of my 2009 CVT FWD petrol Dualis' life. She's reaching 404,000 km's now, so there's a few issues - the suspension I replaced and is a little harder now, the CVT is going, but that happens. The power's always been decent, the CVT hasn't complained too much, and I came from a Ford Fairlane NL 4L straight 6 I have noticed the tailgate handle assembly DOES break and a lot of Dualis's are getting around with duct-taped assembly and the rear taillight issue DOES suck every now and then, especially when it drops your cruise control out because voltage is bleeding into your break system and tripping it XD All in all, my Dualis has been great. Looks like your mechanic is green screened onto a workshop background

This car has awesome fuel economy, great AWD performance in snow but it is small inside, and the engine used to almost dying on my family when we went up a hill with the AC on 😅. If a puny engine, lackluster performance, low built quality are not a problem, it is a great car for a small family. We replaced it with a Volkswagen Tiguan, the Tiguan felt like a luxurious tank by comparison.

Nissan made really good cars in the 90s, that was their golden period where they had gotten over the rust issues of the older ones, build quality and reliability were high. They seemed to have gone downhill post 2005... around the time of the Renault merger.

I loathed this reviewer's forensic review, I had to turn him off. That Dualis he is reviewing is an old car these days. I bought my Dualis in February 2012 and still drive it long distances every day as I use it for my job. I've never had a major issue with it. There are a couple of issues but nothing that need immediate attention. I have made sure it gets regular services. Whiles living in Europe for 12 months recently, I notice that Qashqais are very popular which does indicate, the issues the reviewer mentions seem to be over-the-top.

@@ReDriven of course. I realise that the cars are old. My point is that I felt the reviewer reviewed the car old car (this is first one I have watched) as if it is a car! Of course, there paint would be flakey and parts would rattle a little. My Dualis has many more ageing defects than the one he reviewed but it is still the best, most comfortable, most well-built car I have ever owned, since i gained my licence in 1968!

Hence why we source our information from reliability and consumer reports that cover thousands of examples rather than just one particular car. It’s less an opinion and more a comment on the broad range of issue that seem to affect the Qashqai. It’s great that your experience with one Qashqai has been faultless and we constantly say that just because issues are common, it’s doesn’t mean there aren’t perfect examples out there. The video is designed to pull information from a variety of sources, many of which report myriad issues with the Qashqai. We’re not denying your experience, we can both be right. The Qashqai on the whole can have a raft of issues, meanwhile your specific example might be perfect, it’s not an either-or situation.

Bought this car seceond hand a few months ago and realised the tailgate handle was being held on by tape. Literally googled " nissan dualis+2 2011 tailgate replacement part" and in five minutes I'd ordered a brand new one off Ozparts for $48 plus shipping. Took the car in for an inspection and also to put the new part on and it only cost $70 for labour and inspection. This guy is talking rubbish about it being hard to find and costing hundreds of dollars. One of the best thing about these cars is how cheap and easy it is to find parts for them.

i owned a ex-display 2011 Nissan Qashqai 1.2L petrol with manual gearbox,... it was uhm yh mehh, nice at first, definite step up in my opinion from the 06 focus I had. Under powered, so get used to taking your time. Owning one at 21yrs old, you get used to being gawked at by older women and even police pulling you over thinking they're helping an old man. Plenty of room for your mcdonald's after work though. in the 2yrs i owned it, I had work done on the tracking [about 4 times], steering column itself, wing mirrors not folding or adjusting, replaced the the handle for the boot twice, rattling noises, a leaky door or two one of which somehow was dislodged despite never being touched. In terms of safety they're safe in my opinion because you can't go fast enough to be in any real danger [had a car accident didn't feel a single thing, the other person not so lucky]. The light steering is common, and is a Nissan thing in general [like my juke].
