I definitely agree that instead of complaining that Yoshida has no value, figure out who he has the most value for, and approach them to see how far you can cut your losses. Opening up the DH spot would be huge for the Sox. Then Bregman makes sense, Arenado makes sense, and finding playing time for the kids is much easier.

I don't love Arenado trade but the thing that bugs me is why do we only do trades now? FAs only cost money where trades risk losing a future star and still pay money. Bregman of course would be this but I do agree with them not going over 3-4 years. I wanted us to get Doval last year. (I said the same thing about Crochet the year before I feel like I'm a year ahead of the Sox lol) I've heard that SF isn't willing to move Doval so I don't know that they will go that direction.

Camilo Doval is a potential trade target, however I think the Red Sox would now be premature eating a good portion of Masataka Yoshida's current contract ... They need to remain patient giving Masa some time to bounce back from his shoulder injury allowing him to increase his future trade value ... Yoshida also is one of the best contact hitters they currently have on the MLB roster especially when you consider that this hitting lineup strikes out so frequently (9.69 times per game) ...The Red Sox do have enough talent to restructure this proposed trade to have a realistic opportunity to be able to acquire Doval from the Giants ... No way would I would "overpay" and trade Kutter Crawford for Seiya Suzuki ... Pitching is at a premium and parting ways with it commands the "overpay" back in return ...

its probably better to wait for spring training to get under way. a lot may happen early on in the season! players tend to get hurt in spring training and a team may have a sudden need for a yoshida type player. or have a right handed batter that becomes expendable.

Thank you for your interesting, created, and well-considered trade ideas. They all sound sensible. So many articles that come up when I Google "Red Sox" seem to just echo the same ideas that I've heard over and over, the media echo chamber that contains little to no original thought. And what original ideas I hear often don't have much if any justification provided for why they're highlighting it. Thank you for being better than those guys. My impression of real GM's is that they consider hundreds more possible transactions than are reported by media speculators. I'm guessing Breslow has at least gotten close to some of these ideas you're putting up here. The Suzuki idea is interesting - if you're also shipping out Yoshida too, it sounds like swapping a left-handed DH for a right-handed one, which meets the right-handed-bat goal. If the Red Sox truly have promised Raffy he can continue to play third base (a foolish promise IMO), then your two trades combined would make a less disruptive alternative.

I would love Arenado. I always wondered what you would think about abreu blaze jordan and zantello for arenado and hensley. It allows sox to keep casas a first devers in DH arenado at 3B with Yoshi at LF for start of season then figure out what moves to make when calling Roman up

I like your trade for Camilo. Although if it was someone other than Hamilton I wouldn’t be upset he has game changing speed. Arenado trade aswell would be the cherry especially if you could somehow get Helsley or a young catcher (Ivan herera) back in the deal

I don't think Bailey has much influence on Doval if he comes to the Sox. But I do think he adds depth to the end of the bullpen and would immediately compete with hendriks and chapman for the closing roll. I would LOOOOVE this deal. Wash your hands of Yoshi (who I love but I think he is out of a spot especially with his ehh defense) and add something in the process. Also I do not like Hamilton much as more than as a pinch runner, o I don't mind giving him up.

Mormon or Catholic pre-wedding classes greatly reduce your divorce rates. They force you to ask the bigger questions such as children+finances. Dumping Yoshida at half price isn't a wise move. Trading Hamilton will come with Mayer's development.

I like your outside the box thinking, they would help a lot in improving this team, I think the Giants will be asking a lot more in their trade as you are the more desperate team in wanting to get rid of Yoshida. If you are looking for a big trade that would make Sox fans go wow, I am surprised you did not mention Gurrero from Toronto. He definitely like most players does not want to stay in Toronto, and if you believe all the hype that he wants to play in Boston, try and get him, but only if you can talk with him and his agent prior to work out an extension. You could then make the trade and include Casa, and Abreu and some pitching. Gurrero is much more talented than Casa and is in his prime along with the fact he stays healthier during a full season, you'd be giving up an excellent Gold Glove OF, but one who has troubles against Lefties and that spot could be freed up to let Anthony come up or even Campbell if needed. That would be the biggest Wow factor if they could do that. I would wait until part way through spring training to see how well the kids are playing but that would cement this as being a big offseason that would get you the 95+ wins you need for the playoffs. Also great job on Monster Territory you two have good chemistry together on talking baseball.

I like the trades, but I think the Red Sox don't want to mess with the farm system. I could see the Masa trade just to get some space for a youngster to come in and fill a position, so they could have a rotating dh. It's unfortunate, but I think the Red Sox are going to become the Rays of the past, depending on their youth to come save them.

I've seen a lot of fans who don't like Arenado but for me his defense alone makes me one who does want him if the team goes that route. I think another move is going to be made however it's only conjecture at this point. Breslow has been extremely silent lately something must be up. All this speculation is head spinning just do something already. I'd make the trade you proposed it makes sense. Hopefully something will get done soon. The roster is really close to being good. Literally a right handed hitter and bullpen arm and we'd have a decent team. Spring training is happening soon let's go ⚾

How about masataka yoshida (eating 45 of the 54m) and josh winckowski or Greg Weissert for Sam Hentges? Lefty 27, massive extension monster, whiff/K/chase all 29% good GB rate and has options. For guardians, Yoshida is exactly the type of hitter they cultivate in cleveland and gives them another high velo reliever they can take into the lab and for us it nets us another 40 man spot. I’d also target Andrew Nardi and/or Calvin Faucher. Nardi another lefty extension monster with options and whiff. Faucher heavy GB pitcher who didn’t give up a hr last year and has the best stuff+ on fangraphs. Neither has really excelled in leverage innings yet so you’d be buying on potential
