Nagpanchami is a festival widely celebrated in Most parts of India. In rural parts Maharashtra it is celebrated with great joy, Here in Kokan region of Maharashtra we celebrate it with worshiping a snake idol ( Indian Cobra) and preparing offerings for the Snake god.
Nag Panchami is a day of traditional worship of Nagas or snakes observed by Hindus, Jains, and Buddhists throughout India, Nepal, and other countries where Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist adherents live. The worship is offered on the fifth day of bright half of lunar month of Shravana (July/August), according to the Hindu calendar.
In this Episode we are performing Nagpanchami Pooja and Pooja is preparing Maharashtra's Traditionally Made sweet offerings called "Patolya" (पातोळ्या) and "Undey". They are Traditional Maharashtrian dishes specially made on this occasion in Kokan region of Maharashtra.
Patole or Patolya are sweet Coconut and Jaggery filling, filled in the pockets of Rice flour dough, wrapped in turmeric leaves and steamed until the rice dough cooks.
