Just a thought, check the freezing point of the super coolant. You could lower the temperature on some of the aquatuners

I tend to go for 4 nuclear reactors now, as the main purpose they have is to produce nuclear waste for rad production (Who needs infinite energy anyway ?). Same design pretty much but expanded (Harder to start though, things tend to go boom often during the process). Nuclear power is just really cool in this game, I love it. I just wish bees were less laggy and pathed better. Speaking of rads I don't know how you plan to store your waste but you can fit radbolt generators inside your infinite waste storage and shoot rads diagonally. This way the waste acts as a coolant and your generators never melt. In my experience, after a few hundred cycle a single generator will be more than enough to refuel all your rockets and diamond presses, but since nuclear power is always running anyway you can stick 4 of them in without any power loss. But I digress ! Love ya

Some extra buffer of water in the reactor system is always a good thing. Some plastic tiles to stop radiation is another good thing. But we all like when they go boom too. ☺️

don't forget to cover the radiator chamber with some kind of shield to prevent harm to your dupes. three or four layers of plastic or lead tiles should be enough!

Ever since the petroleum boiler you're into content that I haven't reached yet in my play throughs and I love it. Can we get a sour gas boiler at some point? My last map I had a huge issue with all my water being salt/brine and I would love to see some optimized or interesting builds for dealing with that if you find it on any asteroids as well, even though you don't actually need it at this point.

1. You need to add automation for adding uranium to the reactor: You need to add 1 enriched uranium every 120-200 seconds if the temperature around the reactor is below 200 degrees AND if the voltage in the batteries drops. So you will reduce the overuse of uranium to a minimum and extend the life of the uranium reactor. In my colony, 10,000 enriched uranium is enough for about 1,000 cycles. Depends on consumption. 2. It is highly desirable to make ceramic tiles under the turbines. This is important here, because there are many turbines and a large heat transfer area. 3. Pumping out uranium waste, which has a crazy heat capacity and 165 degrees, I would build an additional compartment with 4-5 turbines that will work purely cooling the waste. After that, they can simply be poured into space. They are not needed for anything else. 4. Put an Auto-Sweeper near the reactor, and run a conveyor there to feed uranium, and so that your duplicants never go there and load themselves.

Nathan: "I have problem with cooling main base now" :D I am not gonna say anything, because you know exactly what i would say :)))) Or nope, i will say it: Told you :D Only exchanging water for SC wont be that much boost, because SCs big heat transfer (main reason SC is best) is always calculated by picking lower of 2 touching. Therefore you no matter what liquid you use, heat transfer will be exactly the same without exchanging pipes. The only thing that will be better is higher capacity, but that means that if you drop 2000C stuff on one block, one packet of SC will have to loop multiple times before it can pickup all the heat from that tile. Its still better then water, but you are not utilizing full potential of super coolant.
@Nathans-Sandbox2 жыл бұрын
You need to come down your high horse a little bit;) First of all you had to wait like 1000 cycles to be able to say "I told you so" and secondly nothing major happened. The base is a little bit hotter, and one aqua tuner struggles. The struggles are not because of the granite pipes, it's because we had to cool down the igneous rock. Switching to SC will help because cooling SC can soak up more heat before it's used up.

another video, another mod use case :D Smart Dig shift click will add a dig command to any same material adjacent to where you click . also has modifiers for digging x number of tiles either horizontally or vertically the mystery of the dirt is most likely from a dupe restocking the algae storage bin in the first rocket and they dropped it because they had to poop also there is No Drop it unfortunately doesnt work anymore for preventing dupes from dropping things when shift changes happen, but it's option to flag dropped items for sweeping automatically does stil work so no more searching all over for dropped items :)

Initial thought on the reactor: refueling with coolant (H2O) should be with the bottom row of turbines, as they're the ones who will condense the steam first (atleast on startup). Also, this is just personal preference, I usually have a much longer pipe segment for refueling, as a meltdown often is a huge hassle to deal with. Only two rows of 5 turbines? 4 rows of 4 turbines has a 99.6% uptime in my current colony, so 10 might be a bit few...??
@Joeyjoejoe17082 жыл бұрын
10 turbines are enough to deal with the heat of the reactor. In my game the steam is stable at 198°C and all turbines produce around 830 Watts of power each.

The Hydrosensor in the Corner could cause Problems. The viskosity of nuckear waste ist very high. It once flooded the floor beneath the Steam turbines, instead of filling the tile with the Sensor. Remove the tile above the sensor or set it to a very Low Limit.
@Nathans-Sandbox2 жыл бұрын
I noticed that too and it gave me a short headache. Thanks for the tip on how to solve it, I set the hydro sensor to 300kg for now, on the left side there is 500-600kg in that moment.

Just discovered something weird about the diamond press. Just filled one bin, which is all I set up for diamond, and apparently disabling the building also disables the ability to accept radbolt. If you leave it alone, its going to waste radbolts once you make the diamonds you need.

I recently build this thing. You might want to check the cooling loop with the nuclear waste regularly. I had to build in another aqua tuner because for some reason everything started to overheat. So maybe watch it for a few cycles just to make sure. On another note, nice video as always :-) premium content
@salemprompthous38202 жыл бұрын
Did you build it using liquid nuclear waste as the actual coolant? If so, you'll need to bridge on a refill from the pump, as the nuclear waste behaves a bit differently from other liquids: Nuclear Waste will, at some point each cycle, drop out of any building it is inside. This also applies to the aquatuner, as it takes the coolant inside itself to cool down, at which point nuclear waste will pop out. The pump extracting the excess waste can refill the cooling loop with just a bridge, which in this situation, problem solved. Another fix is to have an external cooling loop into a pool, and a passive cooling loop using nuclear waste (without the use of any liquid-storage buildings) running through the pool. This is a bit excessive, but if combined with other loops, it's actually a big power saver (which, I know, is also a bit redundant 🤣 )
@OdinAUT2 жыл бұрын
@@salemprompthous3820 ahhh that explains so much. Thanks for that. I just build the contraption and not really thought about it until I saw things breaking down. I actually just build a second pipe going into the cooling loop instead of a bridge.
@salemprompthous38202 жыл бұрын
@@OdinAUT with just a pipe directly into the loop segments, it can overfill the loop and stop the cooling. A bridge would be a lot safer to keep the loop running at all times

yeah reactors don't work the way we think. and francis jon kinda perfected their use case. until keli changes the reactor to take water and out put energy and have a waste pipe out for steam and is self cooled. the jon style is the best way of dealing with reactors. Aslo you made a critical blunder. u built the reactor before everything else was done. the reactor instant starts when fed enriched uranium. and the dupe will grab it and try to feed it because its considered a deliver-life support job, which has a high priority over everything else. and as soon as uranium is introduce it'll meltdown. You should set it up with all the automation and auto deliver a ahead of time. Jon does things with a deliberate attention to detail regarding the game's engine and flaws.
