LOW Electric Fence Voltage - What's Wrong??

In this video, we are ready to open our new pasture up to the pigs but I can't get a good voltage reading on the fencing. Time to go through the trouble shooting checklist and try to resolve the problem.

I have a Parmak fencer from Missouri the one I have has a murderous snap to it I short it out to test it and it snaps harder than any other fencer I have used I would not mind getting another one some day. Have a good day and take care Troy.... God Bless

I keep a can of blaze orange spray paint around to hit tools I'm taking to the field and woods at my place. Makes them stand out so I can find them. Black tools in a field or the woods are going to get lost, it is just a matter of time.

Frog choker! LOL Ours was more of an ant choker during that storm! Nice hammer! Someone recognized it and has one just like it! That was from 2007-2008 ish - when our shed was going up. Glad Merida is used to the piglets now! Who's a good girl!

Hey I looked for my hat once for half a day then scratched my head an found my hat. I was so happy I found my hat, that I took the rest the day off with pay cause by then I forgot what was so important. I really don't worry a lot cause there is always someone else that makes me look good. I was wondering if all the fence line can be driven or do you have some gullies that ask you to go around? I seen a wrake on a 8 n that "Lets dig 18" has on his home tractor and he uses it to knock over cow pies. Spread the wealth of fert. I sure like the idea of having a clean line not that its necessary an maybe pigs don't like rough terrain any better than you. I can't help but think a horse might be easier to get around the acreage each day... I rode fence line for days on my dads place and would be gone a week sometimes. I was plenty old, at eleven taking care of my needs each day with jerky, an tac bread (need teeth for that) an vegetation in the woods. Should I be gone longer I could shoot a rabbit or squirrel an spring chicken (grouse) were real tasty over a fire. All the makings in my saddle bags. I should have to work any longer my sister cut across and would catch up an leave me more and then spend night an go back as she was fourteen and bigger than me. Stronger too.

5 months at this point. I just did a video here recently. Just up'd their daily ration to around 5lbs per day each (dry weight)

As you said, your meter read 1.32. Is that kilovolts? What voltage is the fence supposed to be at? I'm just thinking about DIYing a raised bed in my greenhouse with chickenwire and a DC power supply and just want a general idea of what is reasonable current. I'm only dealing with a rodent, maybe 2 lbs in weight. I only want to deter, not vaporize him and my greenhouse too. He's living in there and eating all my tomatoes...And he's too smart to go in a live trap. He's outsmarted me. Last night he took a few bites out of 3 green tomatoes in a cluster. Big steak tomatoes too! He's being smarmy and vindictive now. So, any advice on adequate, relatively safe voltage would be appreciated.

Do you have wifi at your shop? If so do you have cell phone internet around your property? If you have then all you need is a smartplug. Then you can plug it in the wall and plug your fence charger in to it and that will give you remote shutoff. If you realy want to get fancy some higher end smart plugs soposedly will even send you notification if the plug looses power or is low on power and how much power it is useing. But a basic cheapo smartplug works.

No, unfortunately no Wifi at the shop nor do we have cell service on our property. It would be nice to have at times.

Ya, we dont have cell service here either. We got a wifi extender a while back. Suposedly boosts wifi up to 15mi. But we had to enroll a pig and 4 chickens into nasa camp to learn how to program it. I got the antana reciever thing mounted as instructions said on a pole 25ft up and my wife got the inside thing set up but the programming instructions have alot to be desired. That was not mentioned in buying description. So thus far we only gained wifi on our porch......

We are just feeding conventional hog grower. We are soaking and fermenting it.
